Summary: The aim of this study was to evaluate the surface properties and fatigue mechanical behavior of an advanced lithium disilicate ceramic in comparison to lithium disilicate and zirconia. The results showed that zirconia displayed higher fatigue strength and survival rate compared to the other materials. On the other hand, the advanced lithium disilicate ceramic exhibited lower fatigue strength and lower structural reliability. Additionally, zirconia was found to be the hardest material, while lithium-based ceramics had lower and similar hardness values.

Summary: This review examines the effect of toothbrushing on the surface roughness of resin-contained CAD/CAM materials. The findings suggest that most resin-contained CAD/CAM materials experience an increase in surface roughness after toothbrushing. Understanding the composition of the dental materials and toothpastes is crucial in maintaining a smooth surface for prosthetic restorations.

Summary: The study aimed to evaluate the surface topography and mechanical properties of some CAD/CAM monolithic materials to determine which ceramic materials are resistant to the effects of gastric juice. Exposure to gastric acid can cause demineralization of tooth structure and degradation of dental ceramics. Triluxe Forte experienced the most significant changes after simulated gastric acid exposure, while Cerasmart was the least affected material.

Summary: This study evaluated the effects of toothbrushing on the wear behavior of various dental materials. After toothbrush abrasion testing, it was found that Vita Enamic, Katana Avencia, Filtek Ultimate, and Spectra materials exhibited similar wear behavior. The zirconia material had lower surface roughness than the control group after one year of brushing. The repair interfaces of hybrid ceramic and resin nanoceramic materials showed similar surface roughness to the ceramic and composite surfaces after brushing.

Summary: The aim of this in vitro study was to evaluate and compare the surface roughness, translucency, fatigue performance, and failure load of different ceramics. The results showed that the recently released advanced lithium disilicate had lower surface roughness, higher fatigue failure load and cycles compared to other ceramics, while maintaining a similar level of translucency. Further studies are needed to confirm its clinical performance.

Summary: This study aimed to investigate the impact of storage environment on the hardness, surface roughness, and wear ability of CAD/CAM resin-matrix ceramics. The findings suggested that an acidic environment can lead to deterioration in the surface properties of tested materials, except for CS material's hardness and wear resistance.

Summary: This study evaluated the effect of ultrasonic and manual scaling using different scaler materials on the surface topography of CAD/CAM ceramic compositions. Different ceramic materials and scaling methods were found to have a significant impact on surface roughness. CD exhibited the highest surface roughness values, while CT showed the lowest values. Ultrasonic scaling resulted in the highest roughness values, while plastic scaling had the least surface roughness.

Summary: The study evaluated the effect of tool deterioration on the trueness of milled restorations. It found that the impact of tool deterioration varied depending on the material type and crown area. Glass-ceramic crowns were mainly affected in the proximal area, while zirconia crowns were affected in multiple areas. The trueness did not necessarily reflect the clinical quality of the crowns.

Summary: The study aimed to evaluate the vertical misfit, stress distribution, and fracture strength of 3-unit implant-supported cantilever fixed partial dentures with frameworks made from different materials and manufacturing techniques. The results showed that frameworks manufactured by the CAD-CAM system exhibited lower vertical misfit and better stress distribution, and metal frameworks had higher fracture strength.

Summary: This pilot study showed a significant association between gene polymorphisms and patients with painful temporomandibular joint (TMJ) clicking. Mutant genotypes related to degradation of extracellular matrix components, pain, proinflammation, and anti-inflammation were found to be significantly associated with patients with painful TMJ clicking. These patients also had significantly lower TMJ pressure pain threshold values.

Summary: The study evaluated the efficacy of a gluten-free diet as a treatment for chronic myofascial pain in masticatory muscles in women. The results showed that those on the gluten-free diet experienced a reduction in pain intensity and an increase in pressure pain threshold, highlighting the potential benefits of such a diet as an adjunctive therapy for myofascial pain. Further research in the fields of orofacial pain and nutrition is needed to confirm these findings.
