Summary: This study analyzed radiation therapy outcomes and prognostic factors in 68 non-metastatic angiosarcoma of the scalp and face (ASF) patients. Higher radiation doses and combination therapies were associated with improved local control and progression-free survival rates. The results suggest that optimizing treatment strategies, particularly in elderly patients, could enhance outcomes for this rare malignancy.

Summary: This study aims to identify treatment planning and delivery features that are associated with biochemical failure-free survival (BFFS) for prostate cancer patients treated with external beam radiotherapy (EBRT). By reviewing 2827 patients, prognostic features associated with BFFS were identified, and a random survival forest model was developed to predict the BFFS of prostate cancer patients after EBRT.

Summary: The effectiveness of adjuvant treatments for resected gallbladder carcinoma remains uncertain due to lack of randomized controlled trials. Chemoradiotherapy (CRT) is valuable as adjuvant treatment for stage III-IV disease, while further study is needed for stage II disease with high-risk features.

Summary: This study compared the outcomes of adjuvant chemoradiotherapy (ACR), surgery alone (S), and adjuvant chemotherapy (AC) in patients with gallbladder cancer (GBC). The results showed that adjuvant chemoradiotherapy (ACR) after surgery provided better survival rates, especially for patients with advanced tumor staging.

Summary: This study demonstrated that treatment with toceranib phosphate in dogs with aortic body chemodectomas can result in a good clinical response and medium-term survival. There is currently no standard treatment protocol, and further research is needed to evaluate the effectiveness of toceranib.

Summary: Pineal germinoma is a rare tumor with high cure rates following craniospinal radiotherapy. Efforts to reduce radiotherapy dose and combine with chemotherapy have shown comparable disease control. Clinical outcomes in Queensland, Australia indicate that reduced-dose radiotherapy with chemotherapy does not compromise outcomes.

Summary: The study found that only 30.9% of patients undergoing cytoreductive surgery achieved a composite measure of textbook outcome, with postoperative complications being the most common reason for failure to achieve this outcome. Factors associated with achieving the textbook outcome included age, albumin level, receipt of HIPEC, while receiving neoadjuvant therapy and liver resection were associated with not achieving the outcome.

Summary: The study aimed to develop and validate a clinical prediction model for overall survival in patients with nonmetastatic, resected gallbladder cancer (GBC). Data from a Dutch cohort was used for development and an Australian cohort for external validation. The proposed model demonstrated superior discriminatory capacity compared to the AJCC staging system and can be a useful tool for physicians and patients.

Summary: For stage I to II high-risk endometrioid adenocarcinoma patients, this study retrospectively reviewed patients treated at 13 radiation centers in China from 1999 to 2015. Results showed that compared to VBT alone, patients receiving EBRT had significantly improved DFS, LRFS and DMFS, while there was no significant difference in overall survival between EBRT and EBRT + VBT modalities.

Summary: This study validated the applicability of the 7th and 8th editions of the AJCC staging system for IPMN-associated PDAC. The 8th edition introduced T1a sub-staging and a new distinction between N1 and N2, both of which showed mixed results. The findings support the use of the AJCC 8th edition in the IPMN-associated PDAC population, but suggest that certain cutoffs may need to be revisited.

Summary: This cohort study compared the overall survival of patients with multifocal intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma (iCCA) after hepatic arterial infusion pump (HAIP) floxuridine chemotherapy and resection. The study found that patients in both treatment groups had similar overall survival rates, suggesting that HAIP floxuridine chemotherapy could be an effective alternative option to consider, especially considering the higher complication rate of major liver resection.

Summary: Precision surgery for colorectal liver metastases requires optimal selection of patients and surgery. Biomarkers, such as BRAF and RAS mutations, can help in patient selection for surgery. Special surgical procedures, such as two-stage hepatectomy and liver transplant, have also been refined, but further research is needed to determine the best selection method.

Summary: In this literature review, the relationship between BRAF mutation and prognosis in patients with colorectal cancer liver metastases is investigated. The factors affecting the prognosis of patients with BRAF mutations are also studied, along with the latest research on targeted therapies. Surgery combined with chemotherapy and precision medicine is the only potential treatment for these patients. Identifying suitable biomarkers using modern molecular biotechnology is significant in predicting prognosis and developing individualized treatment plans.

Summary: The study found that gp130 is expressed in the epithelium of most human PDAC, but is rarely expressed in the stroma. The small molecule gp130 inhibitor SC144 potently inhibits PDAC progression in vitro and may block IL-6 or OSM/gp130/STAT3 signaling. These results suggest gp130 as a potential new drug target for pancreatic cancer therapy.

Summary: For patients with primary colon or rectal cancer and synchronous liver metastases, there are various treatment strategies to consider. The decision regarding surgery depends on several factors. Designing a trial to investigate the optimal approach for simultaneous resection of colon or rectal cancer with liver metastases is challenging due to the complexity of the procedures and the need for a reasonable endpoint.

Summary: Hepatocellular carcinoma is the most common primary liver cancer. High-risk patients should be monitored semi-annually. The management of HCC is complex and requires a multidisciplinary team evaluation. Early-stage cancer is best treated with curative-intent treatment methods, while intermediate-stage and advanced-stage require different approaches.
