This paper reports the electrochemical sensing of trace amounts of arsenic (As (III)) in broiler meat using a graphene oxide-bis(2-(4,5-diphenyl-1H-imidazol-2-yl)phenoxy)cobalt composite (GO-Co (DIP)) composite modified electrode. The synthesized nanocomposite was characterized by Fourier transform infrared spectrometry, x-ray diffraction and scanning electron microscopy techniques. The electrochemical studies were carried out by cyclic and pulse voltammetry techniques. To detect the trace amount of As (III) with a highest sensing ability, optimization of some of the analytical factors such as pH, scan rate, deposition time, concentration, pulse height and pulse width were carried out. Employing optimized conditions, the oxidation peak current of As (III) was obtained in the range from -1.0 V to 1.0V and it exhibited a very low detection limit of 0.04M. The developed GO-Co (DIP) composite modified electrode was used to detect the trace amount of As (III) in broiler meat and a comparison was also carried out with the meat of native breeds.
