Summary: The purpose of this systematic review and meta-analysis was to evaluate the clinical performance of implant-supported removable partial dentures (ISRPDs). The results showed that ISRPDs had high implant survival rates and acceptable bone loss, and they improved the quality of life and satisfaction of patients compared to conventional removable partial dentures (RPDs). Therefore, ISRPDs can be considered suitable for the rehabilitation of partially edentulous patients.

Summary: Age, sex, and degree of resorption were not associated with patient satisfaction with complete dentures. Patient satisfaction with both maxillary and mandibular complete dentures was related to their comfort level and denture aesthetics. Patient comfort was associated with stability of the mandibular denture.

Summary: Limited evidence suggests that RPDs may improve OHRQoL in the short-term (up to 6 months) with very low certainty, but the long-term effect after 12 months is inconclusive. More high-quality studies are needed to support these findings.

Summary: This study presents a step-by-step protocol to measure the upper and lower interarch space from digital scans of complete dentures using open-access software. Clinicians can assess and digitally measure the interarch space of edentulous patients requiring implant-supported fixed prostheses using this protocol.

Summary: This technical procedure demonstrates a four-step completely digital workflow for the fabrication of complete dentures in edentulous patients. The process includes data acquisition using an intraoral scanner, trial denture base fabrication, interarch relationship recording, virtual teeth arrangement, and final additive manufacturing for the complete dentures. Digital complete dentures fabrication is accomplished using digital data characteristics, involving data processing using reverse engineering and computer-aided design software programs.

Summary: The purpose of this study was to evaluate the impact of digital versus conventional production of complete dentures on oral health-related quality of life (OHRQoL). The results showed that the fabrication method had no significant influence on OHRQoL, but digital dentures had shorter production time, less chair time, and less time required for dental laboratory technicians.

Summary: The study compared the masticatory performance between dentate groups, maxillary CRD and MDI overdentures. The results showed that both CRD and MDI groups had inferior objective masticatory performance compared to dentate groups. However, MDI overdentures showed a significant improvement in Oral Health Related Quality of Life (OHRQL).

Summary: The incidence and prevalence of cancer mainly affect the geriatric population. In this segment of the population, streamlining cancer care and making it more sustainable is essential. The objective in the care of the elderly cancer patient is not simply the control of the disease but above all the quality of life and the prevention of disability.

Summary: This study aimed to evaluate the survival rate, marginal bone levels, and full arch prosthetic success of short implants in severely resorbed and edentulous mandibles. A systematic review of three relevant studies found short-term dental implant survival rates ranging from 94.2% to 97.4% with a five-year follow-up, and prosthetic success rates around 62% during the same follow-up. The mean marginal bone level values of the affected short implants ranged from 0.2 mm to 0.6 mm. It was concluded that short dental implants positioned with precision as a full-arch fixed support are a valid therapeutic choice for medium-long-term rehabilitation of severe edentulous mandibular atrophy.

Summary: CAD-CAM systems can accurately manufacture RPD frameworks, with digital techniques showing better accuracy compared to traditional methods. Material influences the fit of frameworks, with PEEK material showing superior performance. The results indicate that digital techniques for RPD frameworks are reliable.

Summary: This study aimed to investigate how implant position affects the intraoral scanning accuracy of arches receiving complete-arch implant-supported fixed dental prostheses. The results suggest that digital scanning is reliable but caution is needed in patients with implant angles greater than 15 degrees. Further research is needed to explore the association between implant angulation and clinical factors.

Summary: The purpose of this systematic review was to identify factors that may affect the accuracy of intraoral scanning for completely edentulous arches. After screening 11,498 studies, 12 studies were selected and the factors found to influence accuracy included the type of intraoral scanner, scanning technique, environmental conditions, angle and distance between implants, and material of scan bodies. The scanners from Carestream Dental and TRIOS, 3Shape showed the best results.

Summary: The study found that the incidence of non-adaptation of mandibular complete dentures was higher after 3 months, with a decrease after 6 months. Sociodemographic variables did not influence adaptation. After 3 months, lack of previous experience, traumatic ulcers, and reduced mandibular ridges hindered adaptation to mandibular complete dentures for patients. After 6 months, only ulcerative lesions and non-regular denture wear were risk factors for non-adaptation.

Summary: This study compared the surface characteristics, mechanical properties, and anti-biofilm formation ability of CAD-CAM PMMA polymer, 3D printed resin, and conventional heat polymerized denture base resins. The results showed that CAD-CAM PMMA had similar surface and mechanical properties to conventional resins and demonstrated improved behavior in preventing C. albicans adhesion. However, 3D printed resin had higher surface roughness and lower mini-flexural strength.
