Summary: The study suggests that outcomes and mortality in patients with acute basilar artery occlusion are associated with factors such as NIHSS score at admission, number of thrombectomy device passes, postoperative pons-midbrain index, diabetes mellitus, and lung infection. These findings provide important evidence regarding the efficacy and safety of endovascular treatment for acute basilar artery occlusion.

Summary: Anakinra has been proven effective for colchicine-resistant patients with FMF by reducing attack frequency and subclinical inflammation. The study showed a significant decrease in attack frequency and disease severity in patients receiving anakinra treatment, with 71 patients still on treatment and 32% discontinuing due to insufficient response or side effects.

Summary: This pilot study aimed to evaluate the safety and efficacy of domperidone in the treatment of Chinese patients with functional dyspepsia (FD) who were diagnosed according to the Rome IV criteria, including identification of FD subtypes that potentially respond better to domperidone. Among the 160 patients enrolled, domperidone showed a positive pattern regarding overall treatment effect (OTE) response rate after 2-week therapy compared to placebo in patients with FD as well as those with FD subtypes of postprandial distress syndrome (PDS) and overlapping PDS-epigastric pain syndrome (EPS). No new safety issues were observed.

Summary: This study will search 12 English, Korean, and Chinese electronic databases to evaluate the effectiveness and safety of acupuncture as add-on therapies to conventional Western medications in patients with FD. The primary outcome measure will be the symptom score of FD, while secondary outcome measures will include total effective rate, quality of life, gut peptide hormones level, adverse event incidence, and recurrence rate.

Summary: This study investigated factors contributing to treatment failure and poor compliance in patients with obstructive sleep apnoea/hypopnoea syndrome (OSA) using continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) treatment. Among the 400 patients analyzed, various reasons were identified for patients not starting or discontinuing CPAP treatment. Only mild OSA (AHI < 15) was strongly associated with long-term CPAP treatment failure.

Summary: The results of 22 randomized controlled trials showed that acupuncture combined with WM therapy is more effective in relieving FD symptoms than using WM alone. The total effective rate and Nepean Dyspepsia Index score of patients improved significantly when different types of acupuncture and WM were used together. However, the results regarding changes in FD-related biomarkers such as ghrelin and gastrin were inconsistent. The acupuncture group had a significantly lower recurrence rate after 3-6 months of follow-up compared to the WM alone group, with no difference in the incidence of adverse events between the two groups.

Summary: This study presents the surgical management process of symptomatic urachal remnants in adults at the authors' institute, along with a brief literature review. The results indicate that endoscopic or laparoscopic excision is a safe and effective method for treating symptomatic urachal remnants. There is a lack of available data regarding the management of urachal remnants in the adult population.

Summary: Functional dyspepsia (FD) is a prevalent disorder of gut-brain interaction (DGBI) that is often overlooked. Various therapies are used to treat FD, but their effectiveness varies. This review discusses existing and emerging therapies for FD and highlights the importance of considering neuromodulators and fundic accommodation agents for patients with moderate-severe symptoms.

Summary: Capsaicin, the main component of red pepper, has shown various bioactivities in recent years. Previous studies have suggested that capsaicin may have potential effects on the treatment of functional dyspepsia (FD), but most research focuses on the relationship between capsaicin and transient receptor potential vanilloid type 1 (TRPV1). However, capsaicin can relieve the symptoms of FD through multiple mechanisms such as desensitizing nociceptive fibers, regulating neurotransmitters, combating viruses and inflammation, balancing gut microbiota, inhibiting gastric acid secretion, and reducing oxidative stress damage.

Summary: This study retrospectively reviewed data of patients who underwent endoscopic treatment for pancreatic leaks following PD between 2013 and 2019. Various endoscopic techniques were used, with a technical success rate of 100% and a clinical success rate of 83.3%. The mean time for leak closure was 4.8 days, and no leak recurrences were observed during the follow-up period.

Summary: Parathyroid carcinoma is a rare malignant tumor with a high rate of recurrence and limited treatment options. This study reviewed the clinical data of 17 patients with parathyroid carcinoma and found that most patients presented with hypercalcemia and organ damage at the time of diagnosis. Surgical resection was the main treatment method, but recurrence remained common.

Summary: The objective of this study was to construct a prediction model based on clinical-neuroimaging signatures to forecast the individual symptom improvement of functional dyspepsia (FD) patients following acupuncture treatment. The model showed an accuracy of 88% in predicting acupuncture responders and an R-2 of 0.453 in forecasting symptom relief. Factors such as higher resting-state functional connectivity and baseline scores contributed significantly to stronger responsiveness to acupuncture therapy.
