Summary: This study aimed to summarize earlier data on the association between osteoporosis and obesity (general and central) and compare their impacts on osteoporosis. The findings indicated that general overweight and obesity were associated with lower odds of developing osteoporosis, while underweight was associated with higher odds. However, central obesity did not show a significant association with osteoporosis.

Summary: This study indicates that consumption of ultra-processed food (UPF) is associated with an increased risk of overweight, obesity, and abdominal obesity, with every 10% increase in UPF consumption leading to a 7%, 6%, and 5% higher risk of overweight, obesity, and abdominal obesity, respectively. The findings suggest a positive linear association between UPF consumption and abdominal obesity, as well as a positive linear association with the risk of overweight/obesity in cross-sectional studies and a positive monotonic association in cohort studies.

Summary: Impairment of appetite-regulating hormone regulation may contribute to higher cardiovascular risk in bipolar disorder. Leptin and insulin levels were significantly elevated in patients with BD during euthymia. Greater differences in the number of male participants between patients with BD and healthy controls were associated with higher effect size estimates for insulin levels.

Summary: This study aimed to review interventions for treating obesity in Mexican children and adolescents. The results showed that a multicomponent, multidisciplinary, and individualized intervention involving dietary modifications, physical activity practice, behavioral strategies, and active parental involvement could be effective in treating childhood obesity in Mexico. However, more long-term studies are needed to establish an integrated and sustainable care model.
