Summary: The COVID-19 pandemic has accelerated the adoption of telemedicine in oculoplastic departments, with 86.6% of surgeons incorporating it into routine practice. Telemedicine is particularly useful for triaging, postoperative assessment, and eyelid lesion evaluation. However, barriers to implementation include challenges in conducting clinical examinations, lack of administrative support, and poor access to digital technologies for patients. Most clinicians are satisfied with telemedicine services and anticipate continued use in the future, highlighting the need for further development of digital infrastructure and clinical examination capabilities.

Summary: The widespread use of video calling during the COVID-19 pandemic is associated with increased acceptance of aesthetic surgery. Video call users generally had higher scores on the Acceptance of Cosmetic Surgery Scale, especially when spending more time looking at their own face during calls.

Summary: The study showed satisfactory functional and cosmetic results in 15 patients who underwent surgery with a glabellar flap technique for reconstructing facial skin defects in the medial canthal area. The glabellar flap technique proved to be effective in repairing different types of defects in the medial canthal zone, even in cases with a defect under the medial canthal tendon.

Summary: This study investigated the usage patterns, implementation barriers, and satisfaction with telemedicine among members of the American Society of Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery (ASOPRS). The results showed that telemedicine adoption increased significantly among oculoplastic surgeons during the COVID-19 pandemic, but many current users were unsure or did not plan to use telemedicine post-pandemic.

Summary: This study provides a comprehensive review of the literature on the use of mobile phones in oculoplastic surgery and oral and maxillofacial surgery. The results suggest that mobile device use may improve clinical practice in multiple settings, including communication between providers and patients, as well as surgical supplementation. Further research is needed to quantify the clinical benefits of mobile device use in these fields.

Summary: Video games offer rich visual environments that can be studied from the perspective of visual arts. Aesthetic contemplation, which requires extended attention, is crucial in exploring the aesthetic differences in video games. Opening up space for aesthetic engagement involves players having the choice in how or how long they focus on a game's visual environment.

Summary: Fetal anesthesia and analgesia in maternal-fetal surgical procedures are primarily used to reduce fetal autonomic responses and minimize fetal movement for safe execution of procedures. Administration of fetal analgesia is not recommended during pregnancy termination due to maternal risk and lack of evidence supporting benefit to the fetus.

Summary: This paper proposes a video quality evaluation model based on 3D CNN, using Bi-LSTM to process video-related image/text for additional information. Experimental results show that the model reflects the subjective quality of medical images more comprehensively and outperforms other state-of-the-art non-reference methods in overall image/video VQA assessment.

Summary: This article describes the nontuberculous mycobacteria (NTM) infections associated with healthcare and aesthetic procedures in France from 2012 to 2020. The study obtained epidemiologic data and NTM isolates from the national early warning response system and National Reference Center for Mycobacteria, respectively. Whole-genome sequencing was used to compare clinical and environmental isolates. The findings showed that NTM infections occurred after surgery, other invasive procedures, and other procedures. Environmental investigations identified the same NTM species as the infection in some cases, suggesting the water used in the procedures as a probable source of infection. The study suggests that the use of sterile water in invasive procedures could prevent NTM infections.

Summary: The authors propose the concept of invisible surgery in oncoplastic breast surgery, aiming to achieve the best possible aesthetic outcome without visible scars. They classify various techniques and combine them based on a "scenario strategy," allowing for adaptability during the operation to achieve optimal aesthetic results. The approach has been applied in 138 operations with a total complication rate of 14.6%, emphasizing the importance of planning and flexibility in achieving consistent breast appearance.

Summary: Providing orthopaedic call coverage is a core requirement for orthopaedic surgery residents, and developing proper call habits and routines during residency is crucial for becoming an attending surgeon who can provide high-quality call coverage and consultations. Using a stepwise approach for answering calls, taking a history, performing a physical examination, interpreting studies, and performing procedures can improve the quality and efficiency of patient care.
