Summary: The impact of nanoparticle hydrophobicity and porous medium surface area on the transport of carbon nanoparticles (FCNs) through sand-packed columns under saturated and unsaturated conditions was investigated. The results show that more hydrophobic particles have lower outlet concentrations and mass recovery compared to more hydrophilic particles. Sand surface area also significantly influences FCN recovery, and no significant difference in mass recovery is observed between saturated and unsaturated conditions.

Summary: In this study, three-dimensional ordered porous cuprous oxide cuboctahedra were designed and synthesized, and exhibited outstanding electrochemical CO2-to-C2+ conversion. The ordered pores effectively confined and accumulated *CO adsorption during the reduction of CO2, facilitating efficient dimerization for the formation of C2+ products. The 3DOP structure also induced a higher local pH value, enhancing the C-C coupling reaction and suppressing competing H2 evolution.

Summary: By synthesizing trans-PEG550-TPE-Chol and cis-PEG550-TPE-Chol, nanoporous vesicles with aggregation-induced emission properties were constructed, showing distinct self-assembly behavior in water. Under high intensity UV light, trans-PEG550-TPE-Chol vesicles were perforated by cis counterparts generated from photoisomerization, while cis-PEG550-TPE-Chol micelles interweaved to form nanoporous membranes.

Summary: This study reports on the binding properties of deep cavitands for various industrial pollutants in water. Different types of cavitands, including monomeric cavitands and dimeric capsules, can act as receptors and form complexes. The findings reveal unique binding modes of long n-alkyl chain alcohols and n-alkylbenzenes in cavitands and capsules. These results suggest the potential use of water soluble cavitands in industrial waste treatment.

Summary: Heterogeneous catalysis using Zr-containing zeolites allows for the green synthesis of trans-anethole from 4'-methoxypropiophenone via a cascade of Meerwein-Ponndorf-Verley reduction followed by dehydration. Zr-HY was found to be more active than other catalysts, with the impact of solvent and acidity levels also being investigated.

Summary: The study found that low-energy argon ion irradiation can change the surface wetting properties of molybdenum dioxide nanorods from hydrophilic to hydrophobic. Further analysis suggests that these altered surfaces are expected to help in the fabrication of corrosion-resistant devices.

Summary: The study discusses the main structural and dynamical features of water confined in model Lennard-Jones nanopores with tunable hydrophobicity and finite length, investigating the influence of parameters such as wall hydrophobicity, temperature, and pore size on the water behavior. The simulation results confirm the existence of a core domain in confined water, where structural features are bulk-like even in extreme confinement, while dynamical properties depend non-trivially on pore size and hydrophobicity.

Summary: This article presents three porous organic crystals formed by adamantane-bearing macrocycles with pyrazine or tetrazine units. These crystals possess distinct surface properties with 1D pores, enabling them to capture multiple water molecules from the air or liquid water in a single-crystal-to-single-crystal fashion. The molecular structures of the macrocycles and water molecules were confirmed by X-ray analysis.

Summary: The confinement effect in micro/meso-porous crystalline materials plays a crucial role in catalytic reactions, providing shape selectivity and modulating the surface electron distribution of active species, thereby affecting catalytic reactivity, selectivity, and stability. This systematic review offers valuable insights for researchers aiming to design excellent porous crystalline catalysts based on the concept of confinement effect in heterogeneous catalysis.

Summary: Adding different amounts of molybdenum to highly porous steels can increase relative density and enhance mechanical properties, affecting the microstructure and stress-strain curve characteristics of the material. Modulus of elasticity, plateau stress, and energy absorption density showed significant improvements with varying molybdenum content.

Summary: A metal-organic cage (MOC)-based porous salt composed of cationic Zr-MOC and anionic Cu-MOC was incorporated into SBA-15 nanopores via a two-step impregnation method for the first time. The encapsulated MOC-based porous salt showed improved iodine adsorption capacity when compared with the bulk sample.

Summary: A new strategy for synthesizing 2D porous MoP/Mo2N heterojunction nanosheets with excellent HER activity was presented in this study. The nanosheets exhibit favorable water dissociation kinetics, large accessible surface area, and enhanced mass-transport ability through pores, leading to low overpotentials in alkaline, neutral, and acidic electrolytes. The HER performance of the nanosheets surpasses that of commercial Pt/C in both neutral and alkaline media.

Summary: This study improved the efficiency of electrochemical carbon dioxide reduction reaction by preparing porous copper nanospheres, which enhanced the C-C coupling process and led to higher C-2 selectivity. The porous copper nanosphere exhibited richer pore structure, which facilitated better CO adsorption and enrichment, resulting in improved selectivity and Faradaic efficiency of the products.
