Summary: We synthesized and characterized four dinuclear cobalt(III,II) complexes and investigated their structure and magnetic properties. Single crystal X-ray analysis revealed that the two cobalt centers in these complexes are located at the inner and outer positions of the reduced Schiff base ligands, respectively, with a diamagnetic low spin Co(III) ion present. Magnetic measurements confirmed that these complexes behave as monomers and exhibit field-induced slow relaxation of magnetization at low temperatures.
