Summary: This study investigated the lateral branches of the facial artery in faces and found that 64.9% of the hemifaces had such branches, with a mean diameter of 0.7 mm, mainly originating between the inferior border of the mandible and inferior labial artery. Understanding the anatomy of these lateral branches is crucial for clinicians to prevent complications during facial or maxillofacial surgeries.

Summary: The uterine artery (UA) in women usually originates from the internal iliac artery and has high variability in anatomy. This meta-analysis provides transparent data on the origins of the UA, with the most frequent origin being from the internal iliac artery. Other origins, such as from the umbilical artery or the inferior gluteal artery, are also possible. The findings of this study can be a helpful tool for surgeons performing pelvic or gynecological surgeries.

Summary: The LPChA plays a crucial role in the microsurgical management of lateral ventricular tumors. Its anatomical features guide surgical approaches, with the possibility of sacrificing one trunk while preserving another for blood supply to relevant structures. Selection of intraventricular approaches should be based on tumor location and LPChA anatomy.

Summary: Facial palsy (FP), a severe nerve disorder, can be treated with Cross Face Nerve Grafting (CFNG), a surgical technique that uses sural nerve grafts. The study found that the sural nerve is a reliable graft with minimal donor side effects. Biopsies from 15 FP patients undergoing CFNG showed significant differences in axonal capacity between proximal and distal sections, but no differences in nerve caliber or axonal capacity based on the side of nerve harvest. Age did not affect axonal capacity. These findings provide valuable insights for improving CFNG techniques and individualizing treatment plans for FP patients, enhancing overall outcomes.

Summary: In this study, the researchers examined the 3-dimensional location of the detoured facial artery during filler injection procedures. They found that 39.8% of the cadaveric hemifaces had detoured facial arteries, with two main arterial patterns identified. The study provides valuable information for clinicians to prevent iatrogenic damage during filler injections.

Summary: This meta-analysis evaluated the location and variation of the atrioventricular nodal artery (AVNA) in relation to adjacent structures. The results showed that 82.41% of AVNA originated from the right coronary artery, 15.25% originated from the left coronary artery. The mean length of AVNA was 22.64mm and the mean maximal diameter at its origin was 1.40mm. This study provides important information for cardiothoracic surgery and ablation procedures.

Summary: This study provides a high-definition intraneural topography of the facial nerve between the stylomastoid foramen and the pes anserinus. It demonstrates that there is no significant fascicular separation within 14.4 mm proximal to the stylomastoid foramen until 4.4 mm distal to the foramen. The fascicles undergo a reliable rotation between 8.9 and 13.7 mm distal to the stylomastoid foramen, which can guide surgeons in accurately placing grafts for upper or lower facial reanimation.

Summary: The study identified key transcription factors (TFs) and cell markers in the sinus node (SN) that are significantly more expressed compared to the right atrial tissue (RA), which play a role in regulating ion channels and immune cells. Some TFs were predicted to regulate the expression of key ion channel HNC4, while cell markers were found to have complex interactions with these TFs.

Summary: The presence of a persistent median artery (PMA) has been linked to the development of compression neuropathies and surgical complications, with its prevalence showing significant discrepancies between different literature sources. The antebrachial pattern of PMA was found to be more prevalent than the palmar pattern, both in the general population and patients undergoing carpal tunnel syndrome surgery.

Summary: The myocardial extensions of the pulmonary valve are common anatomical entities. Although the length of the myocardial sleeves is similar in all pulmonary valve sinuses, their relative extent is greatest in the posterior sinus. Long sleeves that spread beyond the fibro-arterial transition zone were observed in one-third of hearts, predominantly in the posterior sinus. Myocardial and fibrous tissue layer thicknesses varied considerably.

Summary: The study revealed significant heterogeneity in the thickness of the atrial wall around the left atrial appendage (LAA) orifice, which is mainly influenced by the size and shape of the LAA orifice and the LAA body shape. Thin atrial wall and endocardial surface roughness may pose challenges to invasive procedures within this region.

Factors such as PFO channel length change, PFO length/height ratio during Valsalva maneuver, and presence of atrial septal aneurysm may contribute to stroke risk. Summary: This study aimed to define and determine the morphometric characteristics of the left atrial appendage (LAA) neck. The LAA neck was found to be a truncated cone-shaped canal bounded by the LAA orifice and lobe origin. The study provides a complex morphometric analysis of the LAA neck, which may have implications for the effectiveness and safety of LAA exclusion procedures.
