In this article, we report kinetic study of ninhydrin with chromium (III)-glycylleucine complex in aqueous-alkanediyl-alpha,omega-bis (dimethylcetylammonium bromide) gemini surfactants at different temperatures and pH. The experiments were monitored by using UV-visible spectrophotometer. The study was run by maintaining pseudo-first-order condition ([ninhydrin] > > [Cr (III)-Gly-Leu](2+)). Reactions were respective fractional- and first-order paths, in ninhydrin and chromium-glycylleucine complex. Conductometric technique has been used for critical micelle concentration (cmc) determination of 16-s-16 (spacer [s] = 4, 5, 6) gemini surfactants. Alkanediyl-alpha,omega-bis (dimethylcetylammonium bromide) surfactants were observed more effective on the study as compared with traditional monocationic cetyltrimethylammonium bromide (CTAB). With geminis, rate constant, k(psi), rises up first (below cmc, part I) and becomes approximately fix (part II). In part III, k(psi) intensifies more at higher concentrations of gemini surfactants. The variation in rate in the presence of geminis has been elucidated by pseudo phase model.

Modes of interaction and thermodynamic behavior of aggregation of CTAB plus BSA mixtures in diols media: effects of diols composition and temperature

Md. Anamul Hoque, Shamim Mahbub, Md. Tuhinur R. Joy, Malik Abdul Rub, Shahed Rana, Dileep Kumar, Yousef G. Alghamdi, Abdullah M. Asiri, Mohammed Abdullah Khan

Summary: The micellization behavior of CTAB and BSA mixture in different diols media was studied. The critical micelle concentration (cmc) values of the mixture decreased with increasing temperature and followed the order: cmc(1,5-PD)>cmc(1,2-PrD)>cmc(2,3-BD). The degree of micelle ionization (a) increased with carbon chain length and temperature. The thermodynamic parameters and the contribution of the solvent were also evaluated.

Summary: The aggregation behavior of the mixture of cetyltrimethylammonium chloride (CTAC) and moxifloxacin hydrochloride (MFH) in aqueous and alcoholic media was studied. The critical micelle concentration (CMC) and counter ion binding (beta) of the CTAC + MFH mixture were evaluated. The CMC values were dependent on the composition of alcohols and temperature, increasing with temperature. The micellization of the CTAC + MFH mixed system was delayed in alcoholic media. The association of CTAC + MFH mixture exhibited hydrophobic, ion-dipole, and electrostatic interactions.

Summary: In this study, the association behavior of bovine serum albumin (BSA) and cetyl-trimethylammonium bromide (CTAB) was investigated using the conductivity method. The association phenomenon was detected by changes in conductivity and various physico-chemical properties. The interaction between BSA and CTAB was influenced by temperature and hydration extent. The binding interactions were believed to involve H-bonding, ion-dipole, and hydrophobic interactions.

Mechanically tuned lanthanum carbonate nanorods in water-in-oil microemulsion scaffolds

Sk Mehebub Rahaman, Madhuparna Chakraborty, Trishna Mandal, Sandip Kundu, Subhendu Dhibar, Dileep Kumar, Samia M. Ibrahim, Manab Chakravarty, Bidyut Saha

Summary: This study investigates the growth process of lanthanum carbonate nanorods in W/O microemulsions. The initial nucleation dominant growth period forms spherical droplets, which then deviate from spherical shape and evolve into nanorods. The presence of a double bond in the surfactant molecules is responsible for the anisotropic growth. The low water content in the microemulsion inhibits the growth rate of the nanoparticles.

Summary: The clouding development and association of surfactant and antidiabetic drug mixture were studied using different hydrotropes in aqueous solutions. The addition of hydrotropes reduced the cloud point of the surfactant and antidiabetic drug mixture. The critical micelle concentration and extent of ionization of the surfactant and antidiabetic drug mixture were found to be dependent on the hydrotrope contents and temperature changes.

Summary: This study investigates the supramolecular interaction between the surfactant TTAB and the antidiabetic drug MNH in the presence of additives. The critical micelle concentration (CMC) of the mixed system is assessed through conductometric analysis, and the thermodynamic nature of the micellisation process is evaluated by monitoring the effect of temperature change. The estimation of thermodynamic parameters and the determination of the degree of counter ion binding provide insights into the viability of the micellisation process. The study suggests that various supramolecular forces contribute to the aggregation of the TTAB+ MNH system.

Physico-chemical study of the effects of electrolytes and hydrotropes on the clouding development of TX-100 and ceftriaxone sodium drug mixture

Md. Nazrul Islam, Malik Abdul Rub, Md. Rafikul Islam, Md. Abdul Goni, Shahed Rana, Dileep Kumar, Abdullah M. Asiri, Yousef G. Alghamdi, Md. Anamul Hoque, Shariff E. Kabir

Summary: This study investigated the potential interactions between the antibiotic ceftriaxone sodium (CTS) and the surfactant triton X-100 (TX-100) in the presence and absence of various sodium based electrolytes and hydrotropic salts. The results showed that the hydrophilic interaction was significant when sodium salicylate (NaSal) was used, but not significant when sodium benzoate (NaBenz) was used. Thermodynamic variables were calculated to evaluate the nature of the interactions, and the findings may have important implications for pharmaceutical formulations and understanding drug-surfactant interactions.

Summary: This study investigates the formation of binary mixed micelles of sodium cholate (SC) - hexadecyltrimethylammonium bromide (HDTAB) and sodium cholate (SC) - dodecyltrimethylammonium bromide (DTAB) in an aqueous NaCl solution. The interactions and conformations of the surfactants are analyzed using 2D ROESY spectrum. The results show synergistic interactions and the dependence of molar excess Gibbs free energy on the mole fraction of the surfactant.

Summary: The phase separation behavior of non-ionic surfactants-drug in aqueous hydrotropes has been studied. The cloud point is found to be dependent on the concentration of hydrotropes, and the positive standard Gibbs free energy values indicate the non-spontaneity of phase separation. The thermodynamic properties of transfer and enthalpy entropy compensation entities are calculated and explained.

Linear hydrophobic congeneric groups of bile acid anion derivatives based on the self-association (micellization) process and the phenomenon of enthalpy-entropy compensation

Dileep Kumar, Mihalj Posa

Summary: The anions of bile acids form linear hydrophobic congeneric groups (LCG) in the lnk - lnCMC plane and in the plane of enthalpy and entropy of bile salts micellization. The formation of LCG is not solely determined by hydrophobic effect and interaction, but also related to the energy and entropy changes of the hydrogen bonds. This finding provides insight into the thermodynamic behavior of bile acids.

Sk Mehebub Rahaman, Madhuparna Chakraborty, Sandip Kundu, Subhendu Dhibar, Dileep Kumar, Samia M. Ibrahim, Manab Chakravarty, Bidyut Saha

Summary: In this study, SmF3 nanoparticles with a hexagonal closed pack structure were synthesized using W/O microemulsions. The crystal structure, composition, purity, and morphology of the nanoparticles were assessed using various techniques. The particle size distribution of the SmF3 nanoparticles was found to be dependent on the water to surfactant mole ratio (W0), with higher W0 resulting in larger particle size distribution. The nanoparticles showed the ability to adsorb phosphate ions from aqueous solution, with smaller nanoparticles exhibiting higher adsorption effectiveness due to their larger surface area.
