Summary: The results of the study suggest that the combination of microneedling with tacrolimus is significantly more effective in treating vitiligo, with a higher percentage of patients achieving over 75% repigmentation compared to tacrolimus alone. Additionally, the combination therapy showed faster response and more significant improvement in the legs and extremities.

Summary: Managing skin wound healing problems is a public health issue that can be addressed by traditional herbal medicines, such as Kampo medicine. Three traditionally used ointments, Shiunko, Chuoko, and Shinsen taitsuko, have a lipophilic base and incorporate herbal crude drugs extracted from botanical genera such as Angelica, Lithospermum, Curcuma, etc. The content of metabolites in these ointments is influenced by various factors, and further research is needed to explore their therapeutic potential for wound healing in Kampo medicine.

Summary: This study found that the application of 0.1% tacrolimus ointment can effectively prevent the appearance of new lesions and promote repigmentation in unstable acral vitiligo. Moreover, using the ointment on both affected and unaffected skin yields better results.

Summary: Combination treatment with tacrolimus and phototherapy was more effective than phototherapy alone for patients with vitiligo, especially in lesions located in the face and proximal limbs. Children had a higher excellent response rate, and other demographic and clinical variables such as gender and disease duration did not significantly impact treatment effectiveness. Further large-scale, well-executed trials are needed to confirm these findings.

Summary: In adult patients with facial vitiligo, twice-daily use of tacrolimus 0.1% ointment showed superior efficacy compared to the vehicle over 24 weeks of intervention and 24 weeks of follow-up. Therapeutic success rate was 65%, with only a 40% relapse rate at week 48.

Summary: The study aimed to evaluate different methods of enhancing the absorption of topical tacrolimus in extra-facial vitiligo sites using microneedling and occlusion. Results showed that the combination of microneedling and topical tacrolimus had an edge over monotherapy in vitiligo treatment, but there was no statistically significant difference in repigmentation percentage between the four treatment areas.

Summary: Vitiligo is a skin disease characterized by white spots, and significant progress has been made in understanding its pathogenesis over the past 30 years through perseverance, collaboration, and open-minded discussion. Researchers have explored various possible mechanisms through innervation, microvascular anomalies, oxidative stress, defects in melanocyte adhesion, autoimmunity, somatic mosaicism, and genetics, with animal models and improved patient sample collection methods playing important roles in translational studies.

Summary: Topical tacrolimus is increasingly used in the treatment of vitiligo. This study showed that 45% of NSV patients achieved repigmentation after 24 weeks of treatment with tacrolimus 0.03% monotherapy. Tacrolimus-induced repigmentation is more likely in patients with vitiligo vulgaris, head and neck lesions, skin phototype III, and young age.

Summary: This study aimed to assess the synergic effect of pseudocatalase/superoxide dismutase (PSD) gel when combined with Tacrolimus 0.1% ointment versus Tacrolimus 0.1% alone for the treatment of vitiligo. The results showed that adding PSD to Tacrolimus ointment did not provide any additional therapeutic benefit in children with limited vitiligo.

Summary: Vitiligo is an acquired immune-mediated disorder of pigmentation characterized by depigmented or chalk-white macules and patches on the skin. It has a significant impact on patients' social and emotional aspects of life. Genetic predisposition and environmental triggers are involved in the development of vitiligo. Immune cells and their mediators play a critical role in the immunopathogenesis, leading to apoptosis of melanocytes.

Summary: This study developed and validated a patient reported measurement of the burden of treatment in vitiligo, with results suggesting four domains ('Finding a doctor', 'Phototherapy', 'Topical treatment', and 'Impact on outdoor activities and photoprotection'). The total score of the measurement was well correlated with DLQI, VIP, and TBQ scores, and the agreement between test and retest was good.

Summary: The study aimed to develop and validate the Vitiligo Disease Activity Score (VDAS) and Vitiligo Disease Improvement Score (VDIS) to assess the evolution of vitiligo lesions over time. The results demonstrate that VDAS and VDIS are valid, reliable, and feasible instruments for evaluating vitiligo activity and improvement. These scores meet the urgent need for a simple, standardized, and practical assessment of vitiligo.

Summary: Vitiligo is a skin disorder characterized by the loss of melanocytes. The pathogenesis of vitiligo involves immunometabolism, including mitochondrial dysfunction, oxidative stress, and defects in metabolic pathways. These abnormalities are influenced by genetic and epigenetic factors and are associated with glucose and lipid metabolism. Melanocytes, keratinocytes, and tissue-resident memory T cells play important roles in the dysregulation of metabolic pathways in vitiligo.

The occurrence of postoperative complications increased the patients' return to work time, while comorbidities and preoperative parameters did not affect the length of sick leave. This study found evidence of poor pregnancy outcomes in patients with blood pressure below the accepted cut-off of 140/90 mmHg, indicating the need for interventions to reduce the risk of hypertensive disorders in pregnancies with blood pressures ranging from 120-139/80-89 mmHg.

Summary: The diagnosis of previable preterm pre-labor rupture of membranes (PROM) is associated with poor outcomes for both the mother and the fetus. A meta-analysis was conducted to compare the effects of active management and expectant management on maternal risks. The results showed no significant differences in maternal risks between active management and expectant management for previable preterm PROM at <24 weeks.

Summary: This study explored the association between neutrophil to lymphocyte ratio (NLR) and platelet to lymphocyte ratio (PLR) measured during pregnancy, and the occurrence of stillbirth (SB). The study found that a PLR higher than 156.4 in the first trimester can reliably exclude the possibility of SB later during pregnancy. Lower platelet and higher lymphocyte levels may be related to an early inflammatory process. Larger studies are needed to confirm the results.
