Summary: The present study aimed to compare the psychometric properties of both the long (BEECOM-L) and short (BEECOM-S) versions of the Body, Eating, and Exercise Comparison Orientation Measure (BEECOM) among Spanish male and female non-clinical adolescents and young adults. The results provided evidence for the reliability, measurement invariance according to age and gender, and convergent/incremental validity for the scores from both the BEECOM-L and BEECOM-S. The BEECOM-S proves to be a psychometrically sound instrument with potential value for assessing social comparisons focused on body, eating, and exercise in non-clinical adolescents and young adults from Spain.

The findings show that 64% of adolescents and young adults treated for sarcoma received opioid prescriptions during treatment, and 23% of these patients met the criteria for new persistent opioid use. These findings highlight the need for age-appropriate education and novel pain management strategies in this vulnerable population.

Summary: The research on the effects of social media, specifically Instagram, on women's body image outcomes has focused mainly on White samples. This study examines the role of race in the links between social media use and body image, and compares these links among four racial identity groups. The results suggest that the internalization of appearance ideals through social media mediates the relationships between Instagram use and self-image activity and body image outcomes.

Summary: Exposure to Instagram content and photo manipulation behaviors may have negative effects on women's body image, especially when following body positive content frequently. However, the influence is not significant for beauty content. Additionally, positive body image is not associated with the frequency of following any Instagram content. High-frequency Instagram filter users tend to follow beauty content more frequently and have higher levels of appearance comparison and internalization of general attractiveness ideal. On the other hand, low-frequency Instagram filter users do not differ from non-users on any investigated dimensions.
