Summary: Perinatal depression (PND) is a major depressive episode during pregnancy or within 4 weeks after childbirth up to a year, with risk factors including stressful life events, history of depression, poor social support, unplanned pregnancies, poor relationship quality, abuse, and low socioeconomic status. It has negative effects on mothers' quality of life, intimate relationships, birth outcomes, breastfeeding likelihood, and long-term effects on children's cognitive and emotional development. No nationally representative study has examined socioeconomic and racial/ethnic differences in PND yet.

Summary: It is increasingly recognized that cognitive impairment has an important role in depression vulnerability. Cognitive remediation strategies and cognitive control training (CCT) have gained attention as possible interventions for depression. Recent studies suggest a small to medium effect on depression vulnerability indicators. Despite initial evidence for the efficacy and effectiveness of CCT, there are still several central questions to be addressed, including potential working mechanisms, optimal administration conditions, and the interaction between CCT and existing depression treatments.

Summary: This study reports on a screening/prevention program aimed to detect depressive symptoms and associated risk factors in women accessing gynecological departments. The study found that pregnant women at higher risk for perinatal depression also exhibited higher levels of neuroticism, lower levels of personal resilience, more anxiety and avoidance in close relationships, higher employment of dysfunctional coping strategies, and lower quality of life.

Summary: Perinatal depression is a significant risk to both maternal and fetal health, and is associated with adverse outcomes. Recent research has indicated that a mother's adverse childhood experiences may predispose her to perinatal depression, with higher prevalence rates observed in Asian and lower-income countries. Our paper elucidates the relationship between perinatal depression and adverse childhood experiences, and suggests potential interventions Asian countries can implement to address the increasing rates of perinatal depression.

Summary: Insomnia disorder affects quality of life and wellbeing, with symptoms throughout day and night. It is a chronic and common condition, with self-report being the primary diagnostic method. Cognitive-behavioral therapy is the recommended treatment, but further research is needed to better understand the underlying mechanisms and develop tailored interventions.

Summary: This study investigates the implementation of CHR-P services in England and finds that most services are integrated within other mental health services. Although the majority of services accept patients aged 14-35, only a small portion actually receive cognitive-behavioral therapy and family interventions. The main challenges of implementation include recruitment of specialized professionals, lack of dedicated budget, and unmet training needs. Standalone services are more successful at detecting at-risk individuals and are more likely to engage in clinical research compared to integrated services.
