Summary: This retrospective study aimed to identify predictors for cancer recurrence in women with endometrial cancer and compare the clinical outcomes of sentinel lymph node (SLN) mapping and traditional lymphadenectomy. The study found that para-aortic lymph node metastasis was the sole predictor for cancer recurrence and cytokeratin immunohistochemistry stain detected more lymph node metastases. Additionally, SLN mapping and traditional lymphadenectomy had similar probabilities of cancer recurrence.

Summary: The study evaluated oncologic outcomes in endometrial cancer patients with low-volume metastasis in the sentinel lymph nodes, finding that Non-endometrioid histology, lymphovascular space invasion, and uterine serosal invasion were independent risk factors for recurrence. Patients with any of these risk factors had poor prognosis even with adjuvant therapy. On the other hand, patients with isolated tumor cell and grade 1 endometrioid disease had favorable prognosis even without adjuvant therapy, suggesting a potential for withholding adjuvant therapy in this low-risk subgroup.

Summary: Occult endometrial cancer after supracervical hysterectomy is rare, and restaging should be considered for optimal management. A case report described a patient with metastatic parametrium after laparoscopic surgery, highlighting the feasibility of SLN mapping with cervical injection even without the uterine corpus.

Summary: Endometrial cancer is a common gynecological malignancy with increasing incidence rates annually. Lymph node status is crucial for prognosis evaluation and treatment selection. Sentinel lymph node mapping (SLNM) in early-stage lower risk EC patients has shown high detection rate and sensitivity without compromising patient survival.

Summary: This study aimed to determine whether the size of lymph node metastasis is associated with prognosis in cervical cancer patients. The results showed that lymph node metastasis ≥0.4 mm was significantly associated with shorter disease-free survival, but no cut-off value for size was found that had a better prognosis than N1. Traditional metastasis stratification based on size is clinically irrelevant.

Summary: This study aimed to understand the use of sentinel lymph node mapping in endometrial cancer staging by Chinese oncologists and analyze the factors influencing its application. Questionnaires were used to evaluate the characteristics of the participating oncologists and factors associated with the use of sentinel lymph node mapping. Results showed that 35.4% of doctors employed this method for endometrial cancer staging. Factors such as cancer research center, familiarity with the technique, and use of ultrastaging were found to be related to the selection of sentinel lymph node mapping. The study also revealed significant differences in surgical procedures and reasons for not using the technique before and after the symposium. In conclusion, theoretical knowledge, use of ultrastaging, and being associated with a cancer research center were found to be related to a higher acceptance of sentinel lymph node mapping. Distance learning was found to be helpful in promoting this technology.

Summary: This study estimates the annual cost of wasted indocyanine green (ICG) used for sentinel lymph node mapping in patients with endometrial cancer. The findings show that the current manufactured vial size of ICG leads to wasted costs exceeding $2 million for hospitals and $13.3-$17.7 million for patients annually. The study suggests packaging ICG in smaller vials to avoid drug waste and financial impact.

Summary: This study aimed to identify the risk factors for metastasis in non-sentinel lymph nodes (SNL) in cases of positive sentinel lymph node (SLN) in early-stage cervical cancer. Age and lympho-vascular invasion were found to be predictive of non-SLN metastasis in patients with SLN metastasis.

Summary: This study aimed to evaluate the independent variables associated with positive endocervical margin (EM) in women with high-grade cervical intraepithelial neoplasia (CIN) and fully visible transformation zone (TZ). The study found that TZ type and lesion extension were positively associated with positive EM, while cone depth was inversely related to positive EM. In women with TZ type 2 and lesion extension ≥2 cervical quadrants, an 8-mm cone depth provided a good cutoff value.

Summary: Endometrial carcinosarcoma is a rare and aggressive type of cancer, with clinical presentation and diagnostic methods similar to the more common endometrioid carcinoma. It is characterized by the presence of both carcinomatous and sarcomatous elements, and the majority of cases have p53 abnormalities. Treatment involves a multimodal approach for non-metastatic disease and palliative chemotherapy for metastatic or recurrent disease.

Summary: Human papillomavirus (HPV) is a common sexually transmitted infection that can cause various diseases, including cervical cancer. Prophylactic HPV vaccines have been developed to prevent the spread of HPV and reduce the prevalence of HPV-related diseases. Despite their high efficacy, HPV vaccines are underutilized in Italy, with decreasing coverage rates. Action is needed to improve HPV awareness and education to promote widespread adoption of HPV vaccination.

Summary: Endometrial cancer (EC) is a common gynecological malignancy, and molecular and genomic profiling have shown promise in predicting recurrence risk. However, there is limited data on therapeutic value. Ongoing studies are focused on identifying appropriate adjuvant strategies, especially for patients with positive nodes and low volume disease. Molecular classification has the potential to improve risk stratification and management in EC patients. This review aims to explore the evolution of molecular classification and its impact on research and clinical management.

Summary: This study evaluates the impact of healthcare reorganization during the COVID-19 pandemic on Italian colposcopy clinic activities, specifically focusing on cervical excision procedures, follow-ups for conservative management of low-grade lesions, and follow-ups post cervical excision. The results show a reduction in the number of cervical excisions by 8.8% during the pandemic period compared to pre-pandemic. There were also significant reductions in the follow-ups for low-grade lesion management and follow-up appointments after cervical excision.
