Summary: This case study demonstrates a successful fertility treatment for a couple affected by obstructive azoospermia, using pharmacological enhancement of sperm motility and polarized light microscopy guided optimization of ICSI time. By individualizing the treatment beyond traditional protocols, they were able to achieve pregnancy and deliver a healthy child.

Summary: For women with uncompromised ovarian reserve undergoing mild stimulation IVF, optimizing live birth rate (LBR) per cycle and cumulative LBR (CLBR) is achieved with 9 oocytes or 4 embryos for fresh transfers, and 12 oocytes or 9 embryos for predicted normal responders, while safeguarding against ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome (OHSS).

Summary: This systematic review suggests that the optimal number of oocytes for maximizing fresh live birth rate is between 12 and 18 oocytes. However, cumulative live birth rate continues to increase with the number of oocytes retrieved.

Summary: The study found that the ratios of Oc/AFC and MII/AFC were associated with live birth rate and could be promising indicators for assessing ovarian response. However, the ratios of Oc/AMH and MII/AMH did not affect the live birth rate or implantation rate after the first or cumulative embryo transfer.

Summary: This study retrospectively analyzed 1380 PCOS patients who received IVF/ICSI-ET and found significant correlations between CLBR and factors such as duration of infertility, infertility type, stimulation protocols, starting dose of gonadotrophins, and oocyte retrieved numbers. Using the prolonged GnRH-agonist protocol, starting dose of gonadotrophins between 100u-112.5u, and obtaining 11-15 or 16-20 oocytes significantly increased the CLBR of PCOS patients after the first oocyte collection.

Summary: This population-based retrospective cohort study compares the perinatal outcomes between frozen and fresh embryo transfer (ET) in singletons, sets of twins, and siblings. The study found that frozen ET is associated with a lower risk of preterm birth, low birthweight, and congenital anomalies in singletons and twins. However, there is a higher risk of high birthweight and being large for gestational age. Singletons conceived following frozen ET have a lower risk of low birthweight and being small for gestational age compared to a singleton sibling born after fresh ET. Overall, frozen ET appears to have both advantages and disadvantages in perinatal outcomes.

Summary: The study aimed to investigate the impact of paternal age on the risk of congenital anomalies and birth outcomes in infants born in the USA between 2016 and 2021. Using data from the National Vital Statistics System (NVSS) database, the study found that advanced paternal age (>44 years) was associated with an increased risk of congenital anomalies, especially chromosomal anomalies, in offspring. The risk of preterm delivery, low birth weight, and neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) hospitalization was also increased with advanced parental age.

Summary: The study found that oocyte donation does not compromise CLBR and can reduce embryo wastage. Additionally, in patients with 10 retrieved oocytes, CLBR remained good at 73%. Therefore, it is possible to expand oocyte donors by decreasing the number of oocytes kept for own use from 15 to 10 after adequate communication with patients.

Summary: Treatment cycles using frozen own oocytes have a lower live birth rate but a lower risk of low birth weight compared with frozen donor oocytes. Women planning to freeze their own eggs for fertility preservation or social egg freezing need to be aware that results from frozen donor egg banks may not completely apply to them, but oocyte cryopreservation does not appear to have negative effects on perinatal outcomes.

Summary: The present study reveals the importance of conjoined oocytes in the clinical IVF setting. A successful live birth from a conjoined oocyte demonstrates that degenerated immature oocytes have no adverse effect on subsequent embryo development and pregnancy outcome. Furthermore, a literature review evaluates the origin, incidence, safety, and significance of conjoined oocytes in reproductive health.

It is recommended that all cancer patients participate in a standard MBCT program (eight sessions) and complete assigned homework as thoroughly as possible. Further research with larger sample sizes and objective measurements is needed.

Summary: This study investigated the neutralizing antibody titer of the BNT162b2 vaccine in a Japanese population and found that the titer against the R.1 variant was comparable to the original variant, while a lower titer was observed against the beta variant. This suggests that the E484K mutation is not solely responsible for the weakened humoral response.
