Summary: The study reveals that primary biliary cholangitis (PBC) may have an impact on thyroid function, specifically autoimmune thyroid disease, mild hypothyroidism, and thyroid cancer. Additionally, there may be a causal relationship between autoimmune thyroid disease and PBC.

Summary: Through bidirectional two-sample Mendelian randomization analysis, the study found causal associations between PSC and Graves' disease, hyperthyroidism, as well as suggesting that susceptibility to hyperthyroidism and hypothyroidism might be risks for PSC. Besides GD, hyperthyroidism, and hypothyroidism, no significant causal association was observed between PSC and other thyroid dysfunctions.

Summary: Primary biliary cholangitis (PBC) is a rare autoimmune liver disease with limited treatment options. Ursodeoxycholic acid (UDCA) is the first-line therapy but is ineffective for a significant portion of patients. Obeticholic acid (OCA) is an effective second-line treatment for UDCA-non responders. Future therapies for PBC are promising.

Summary: Cholangiopathies are various biliary diseases that affect the biliary epithelium and can lead to cholestasis and liver cirrhosis. Primary biliary cholangitis (PBC) and primary sclerosing cholangitis (PSC) are the most important progressive cholangiopathies in adults, with research focusing on genetic risk, epigenetic changes, dysregulated mucosal immunity, and altered biliary epithelial cell function. Understanding the molecular pathogenesis of these diseases can help clinicians prevent and treat them more effectively.

Summary: Primary Biliary Cholangitis (PBC) is a liver disease with a varied presentation, progression, and response to treatment. Current risk assessment relies on analyzing demographic data, clinical findings, antibody profiles, and liver fibrosis evaluation to identify patients at higher risk of disease progression. The response to therapy after one year remains a significant factor influencing the prognosis of PBC patients. Tailored treatment strategies are emerging to replace the one-size-fits-all approach, requiring the development of risk prediction models to assess patients' course, outcome, and response to treatment at the time of diagnosis. This review provides an overview of current and emerging risk stratification tools and speculates on their potential impact on PBC management.

Summary: This article discusses epigenetic modifications in Primary Biliary Cholangitis (PBC), including methylation, post-translational modifications of histone proteins, and non-coding RNA. The study found dysregulation of these modification levels, especially in immune cells, in PBC. The article also discusses the influence of X-chromosome abnormalities and abnormalities in X chromosome inactivation on the sex imbalance and pathogenesis of PBC.

Summary: Primary biliary cholangitis (PBC) is an autoimmune disease that mainly affects middle-aged women but also young women and men. It is characterized by degeneration and necrosis of intrahepatic biliary epithelial cells, with early diagnosis through detection of antimitochondrial antibodies and introduction of ursodeoxycholic acid as first-line treatment significantly improving clinical outcomes.

Summary: This study compares the outcomes of living donor liver transplant (LDLT) and deceased donor liver transplant (DDLT) in patients with primary biliary cholangitis (PBC). The results show that LDLT has superior patient survival compared to DDLT, and there is no significant difference in graft survival between the two methods. The study also identifies predictors of poor post-transplant outcomes in PBC patients.

Summary: Genome-wide association studies have identified a genetic locus, 19p13.3, associated with primary biliary cholangitis (PBC). Through functional annotations and experimental validations, the study suggests that a specific variant, rs2238574, may regulate the expression of ARID3A and affect the severity of PBC.

Summary: Primary biliary cholangitis (PBC) is an autoimmune liver disease that predominantly affects women. It is characterized by impaired bile secretion and enterohepatic bile salts circulation, leading to insufficient release of bile acids into the bowel and their entry into the systemic circulation. This results in malabsorption, energy malnutrition, and gradual weight loss. PBC is also associated with dyslipidemia, including elevated total cholesterol levels, increased high-density lipoprotein levels, and the appearance of unusual lipoprotein X (Lp-X).

Summary: Ursodeoxycholic acid is the first-line therapy for PBC, but new pharmacological agents are being proposed for UDCA-non-responders. Obeticholic acid and fibrates have shown effectiveness in improving biochemistry alteration and symptoms of PBC. Other new agents with different mechanisms of action are also under clinical evaluation for PBC treatment.

Summary: Primary biliary cholangitis (PBC) is a chronic autoimmune liver disease characterized by destructive cholangitis and the presence of antimitochondrial antibodies. The prevalence of PBC varies globally and may be higher in males and racial minorities than previously thought. Early recognition and treatment are crucial for PBC outcomes, which can be influenced by provider bias and socioeconomic factors. Ursodeoxycholic acid is the initial treatment choice, with other drugs being considered as add-on therapy. This article provides a comprehensive summary of the epidemiology, prognosis, and treatment of PBC for holistic management.

Summary: This study suggests that the LumiraDx(TM) SARS-CoV-2 antigen assay may be suitable for detecting SARS-CoV-2 infection, especially in the early phase. Compared to real time RT-PCR, LumiraDx(TM) has lower sensitivity, but sensitivity increases when testing is conducted within 10 days of symptom onset and with Ct values below 25.

Summary: This study aimed to assess the POISE criteria for treatment response evaluation in patients with primary biliary cholangitis (PBC) and evaluate the utility of alkaline phosphatase (ALP) at six months as a predictor of insufficient response. The results showed that an ALP threshold of 1.9 x ULN at six months accurately identified non-responders.

Summary: The aim of this study was to increase the rate of HPV vaccination in women diagnosed with CIN2+ lesions. After implementing a quality improvement strategy, the vaccination rate rose to 50% and the time elapsed between diagnosis and vaccination decreased from 158 to 90 days. This study emphasizes the importance of training for healthcare personnel to promote vaccination and highlights the need for better communication to ensure access to preventive healthcare for all citizens.

Summary: The aim of this study was to investigate whether the risk of adverse reactions after SARS-CoV-2 vaccinations was higher in individuals with previously diagnosed allergies. An observational descriptive analysis of vaccines administered in a protected setting in Italy was conducted. The results showed that the probability of experiencing at least one reaction significantly declined with increasing age and number of doses received. Vaccinations were found to be safe with few reported reactions and no permanent adverse outcomes.

Summary: This study aims to assess the burden of invasive meningococcal disease (IMD) and related sequelae in primary care. It found that these conditions have a significant impact on healthcare systems, particularly in individuals aged 25 or older. Effective communication on the importance of meningococcal vaccination in adults should be strengthened.
