Summary: Modern photodynamic therapy relies on the interaction between photosensitizer and oxygen to produce singlet oxygen. Energy transfer from the triplet excited state of photosensitizer to the excited state of oxygen is well-established, while the transfer from the singlet excited state is believed to be insignificant. However, our study provides evidence of energy transfer between the singlet excited state and oxygen in the production of singlet oxygen. This finding has been verified through fluorescence intensity measurements and ultrafast pump probe experiments.

Summary: Fluorescent carbon dots (CDs) derived from Weissella sp. Kl-3, known as CDs-Ws, exhibit strong fluorescence, excellent biocompatibility, and low cytotoxicity. CDs-Ws can selectively label and differentiate cells, as well as function as a fluorescence nanosensor for detecting Cr(VI) and VB12 with high sensitivity and detection limits. The CDs-Ws show great potential in bioimaging and detection of specific substances.

Summary: The study utilized a nanosensing platform composed of GO and ATP aptamer successfully in detecting intracellular compounds in microalgal cells, with the cell wall identified as the primary barrier. By modifying APT as MB type, the background signal was significantly reduced, and the application showed no negative impact on microalgae growth.

Summary: Optical imaging has a wide range of applications in the biomedical field, providing visualization of physiological processes and aiding in disease diagnosis and treatment. Unexcited light source imaging technologies, such as chemiluminescence imaging, bioluminescence imaging and afterglow imaging, have gained attention due to their lack of excitation light interference, high sensitivity, and high signal-to-noise ratio. This review highlights the latest advances in unexcited light source imaging technology for biomedical applications, discussing the design strategies of luminescent probes, their applications in various imaging modalities, and the future prospects of unexcited light source imaging for medical applications.

Summary: This research demonstrates the immobilization of glucose-reactive enzyme glucose oxidase (GOx) onto single-walled carbon nanotubes (SWCNTs) for optical glucose monitoring. The bioconjugation of GOx to SWCNTs was achieved through thiol bioconjugation of engineered cysteine residues. The characterization of the bioconjugation was conducted using absorption and fluorescence spectroscopy. The bioconjugated reaction solution showed a reversible response to physiological concentrations of glucose, making it suitable for continuous glucose monitoring in the NIR-II optical region.

Summary: In this study, we investigated the photosynthetic characteristics of the crustose coralline alga Pneophyllum fragile in response to elevated water temperature and irradiance. We found that P. fragile exhibited a distinct adaptability to high temperatures and strong irradiance, with increased photosynthesis capacity and respiration rate. The compensation irradiance and saturation irradiance also increased with increasing water temperature.
