Summary: The study shows that agricultural loans have a significant positive effect on both regional agricultural and economic growth, especially loans to farmers and rural enterprises. Microcredit loans to farmers and students, rural individual industrial and commercial household loans, and other types of loans to farmers also have a significant positive relationship to regional agricultural growth.

Summary: This study uses the directional distance function to measure environmentally-adjusted technical efficiency in agricultural production in six countries in the MENA region. The results show that all six countries have room to improve their environmental efficiency. It also finds a trade-off between agricultural emissions and production, which should be considered for enhancing sustainability in the region.

Summary: Relieving credit restrictions can change the high-pollution producing style for agriculture, which is critical for low-carbon development. The agricultural credit subsidies (ACS) policy significantly reduces carbon intensity in the treated counties through agricultural scale expansion and technology adoption. This effect is more pronounced in areas with higher primary industry outputs and carbon emissions, and other approaches confirm our conclusions.

Summary: This paper examines the effect of institutional investors' monitoring attention on firms' trade credit financing. The study finds that the monitoring attention of a firm's institutional owners positively affects trade credit financing. Importantly, only institutional investors with the highest monitoring attention positively impact the firm's account payables, consistent with the intervention channel. Conversely, institutional investors with low monitoring attention have a negative effect on trade credit financing, consistent with the exit channel of institutional investors. Our findings support the notion that the effectiveness of institutional monitoring depends on ownership held by motivated monitoring institutions.

Summary: This paper empirically examines the effect of joining agricultural industry chains on supply-based and demand-based credit rationing for farmers using probit and tobit models. The study finds that agricultural industry chains can increase farmers' credit by reducing information asymmetry, business risks, and forming effective collateral and guarantee mechanisms. Credit enhancement mechanisms such as information systems, commercial credit, orders, guarantees, production services, and government support have significant effects on alleviating farmers' credit rationing, while insurance has limited effects. The effects of joining agricultural industry chains on alleviating credit rationing are more obvious for large-scale farmers than for small farmers.

Summary: Climatic hazards have negative impacts on agricultural growth in India, with droughts and heat-waves causing larger negative effects, especially in poor and agrarian states. However, adaptation measures such as irrigation and crop diversification can partially offset these negative effects, particularly against droughts and heat-waves, although their benefits may decrease with more frequent hazards.Inputs use and diversification into animal husbandry also provide small but sustainable adaptation benefits in the event of frequent climatic hazards.

Summary: The institutional change literature has mainly focused on successful changes and paid little attention to the phenomenon of institutional fields reverting to their pre-change or near pre-change state after change attempts. This study uses the case of reforms in the petroleum exploration and production field in India to examine an institutional change where the institution gradually reverts to its pre-change state. The concept of institutional elasticity is introduced to explain this reversion, and three boundary conditions - scope of change, pace of change, and field-level actor constellations - are discussed in relation to the relationship between institutional elasticity and reversion of institutions.

Summary: This paper analyzes some aspects of cronyism and corruption in India, developing a game-theoretic model to study the interactions between a ruling political party and a capitalist. The results show that only the political party benefits from increased cronyism and corruption, while the society as a whole suffers and even the capitalist experiences a decline in profit. The study concludes that a strong corrupt political party is detrimental to all sections of the population.

Summary: Free collection of foods plays an important role in improving dietary adequacy and quality, with households in India relying on it for a significant portion of their food consumption. Access to free foods is associated with increased likelihood of having more than two meals and higher dietary diversity, driven by specific food groups such as vegetables, meats, fish, and green leafy vegetables. Recognition of the role of free collection is crucial in discussions on sources of food beyond farms, markets, and the state.

Summary: Undernutrition is a widespread issue, especially for women and their children. Research has shown that women's empowerment can have an impact on nutritional outcomes, but measuring empowerment, especially in relation to nutrition, remains challenging. Interviews with rural South Asian women highlighted factors not typically included in empowerment measures. A new concept of women's nutritional empowerment and a framework for measurement and operationalization have been proposed to address the lack of a systematic approach in nutrition literature.

Summary: This paper investigates the impact of combined participation in workfare and food grain subsidy programs on the nutritional and health status of women and children in India. The study finds that simultaneous participation in these programs reduces women's morbidity by at least 25%, but only increases women's BMI in states with effective program implementation. There is no robust evidence of impacts on children. The study suggests that these social protection programs can have positive effects on nutrition and health, but the effects vary and are mediated by intra-household dynamics.
