Five-fold-twinned PtCu nanoframes (NFs) with nanothorns protruding from their edges are synthesized by a facile one-pot method. Compared to commercial Pt/C catalyst, the obtained highly anisotropic five-fold-twinned PtCu NFs show enhanced electrocatalytic performance toward the oxygen reduction reaction and methanol oxidation reaction under alkaline conditions.

Repurposing a Cyclin-Dependent Kinase 1 (CDK1) Mitotic Regulatory Network to Complete Terminal Differentiation in Lens Fiber Cells

S. U. H. A. O. Chen, B. O. Lu, X. I. A. O. T. I. A. N. Wu, W. E. I. Q. I. Liu, Qipeng Lu

Summary: For the X-cube prism 3CCD camera, the spectra of the designed dichroic films in the prism shift with changes in the incident angle of light, resulting in color non-uniformity on the image plane. We optimized the thin film to improve color consistency by considering the influence of the incident angle on color performance in filter design. An optical model was used to calculate the camera spectral sensitivity distribution and correct the non-uniform color on the image plane. The results showed that the optimization and correction methods significantly improved the color performance of the X-cube prism 3CCD camera.

Biao Huang, Yiyao Ge, An Zhang, Shangqian Zhu, Bo Chen, Guanxing Li, Qinbai Yun, Zhiqi Huang, Zhenyu Shi, Xichen Zhou, Lujiang Li, Xixi Wang, Gang Wang, Zhiqiang Guan, Li Zhai, Qinxin Luo, Zijian Li, Shiyao Lu, Ye Chen, Chun-Sing Lee, Yu Han, Minhua Shao, Hua Zhang

Summary: A seeded method is developed to synthesize hollow PdSn intermetallic nanoparticles (NPs) with two different intermetallic phases, orthorhombic Pd2Sn and monoclinic Pd3Sn2. The obtained hollow orthorhombic Pd2Sn NPs exhibit excellent electrocatalytic performance towards glycerol oxidation reaction, surpassing solid orthorhombic Pd2Sn NPs, hollow monoclinic Pd3Sn2 NPs, and commercial Pd/C. The reaction mechanism using the hollow orthorhombic Pd2Sn catalyst is investigated, revealing its higher efficiency in cleaving the C-C bond compared to commercial Pd/C.

Wei Zhai, Junlei Qi, Chao Xu, Bo Chen, Zijian Li, Yongji Wang, Li Zhai, Yao Yao, Siyuan Li, Qinghua Zhang, Yiyao Ge, Banlan Chi, Yi Ren, Zhiqi Huang, Zhuangchai Lai, Lin Gu, Ye Zhu, Qiyuan He, Hua Zhang

Summary: Phase transition with band gap modulation is extensively studied for its applications in memories, neuromorphic computing, and transistors. This study reports a reversible phase transition in the semimetallic 1T'-WS2 via proton intercalation, resulting in a newly discovered semiconducting WS2 phase. The phase transition achieves an on/off ratio of >10(6). This work provides insights into the phase transition of TMDs and opens up possibilities for tuning their physicochemical properties.

Two-dimensional Cu-porphyrin nanosheet membranes for nanofiltration

Jiahao Cai, Shizheng Song, Lijie Zhu, Qipeng Lu, Zong Lu, Yanying Wei, Haihui Wang

Summary: A study used Cu-meso-tetrakis (4-carboxyphenyl) porphine (Cu-TCPP) nanosheets with wrinkled and flat morphologies to assemble energy-efficient nanofiltration (NF) membranes by vacuum filtration (VF) and electrophoretic deposition (EPD). The membrane assembled by wrinkled nanosheets showed a higher water permeance compared to the membrane assembled by flat nanosheets, while maintaining a high rejection rate for the dye. Similarly, the membrane prepared by EPD with flat nanosheets exhibited higher water permeance than the membrane prepared by VF, with similar rejection rate for the dye. These membranes also demonstrated good separation performance under high pressure.

Zongxiao Wu, Junlei Qi, Wenbin Wang, Peng Yang, Chen Ma, Haoxin Huang, Kai Bao, Jingkun Wu, Chengxuan Ke, Ye Chen, Chaoliang Tan, D. V. Maheswar Repaka, Qiyuan He

Summary: The chemical simplicity and appealing physiochemical properties of elemental two-dimensional (2D) materials, also known as Xenes, have sparked increasing interest for (opto) electronic, iontronic, and energy applications. Among them, layered α-phase tellurene has shown great promise due to recent advances in its chemical synthesis. However, the electronic and electrochemical properties of tellurene in electrolyte systems remain unclear, hampering its further development. In this study, we investigated the electrostatic gating, electrocatalysis, and electrochemical stability of tellurene in electrolyte systems. Our results demonstrate that tellurene obtained from hydrothermal and chemical vapor deposition methods exhibits thickness-dependent ambipolar transport with high hole mobility and stability in aqueous electrolytes and ionic liquids. Moreover, tellurene shows promising electrochemical properties, such as low Tafel slopes and remarkable stability in acidic electrolytes, as studied using on-chip electrochemistry. These findings provide a comprehensive understanding of the iontronic and electrochemical properties of tellurene, paving the way for its widespread application in sensors, synaptic devices, and electrocatalysis.
