Summary: The majority of current oral drugs are hydrophobic and have gastrointestinal toxic side effects, limiting their therapeutic efficacy. Lignin nanoparticles (LNPs) with antimicrobial and antioxidant properties show great potential for application in pharmaceuticals. This study prepared LNPs by modifying and self-assembling alkali lignin, and evaluated their application in a hydrophobic oral drug delivery system using Ibuprofen. The IBU-loaded LNPs showed controlled release in the intestine rather than the stomach and improved the bioavailability of Ibuprofen drugs. The research proposes a method for preparing smart lignin nanoparticles and demonstrates their promising application in pharmaceuticals industry.

Summary: Surface oxidation improves the osseointegration of titanium nitride coatings on implantable titanium devices. This study investigated the effects of hydrothermal oxidation on the structural, corrosion, and wear properties of multi-arc ion plated titanium nitride coating. The hydrothermal oxidation formed a dense oxide layer, resulting in enhanced passivation behavior, improved corrosion resistance, and reduced wear loss.

Summary: In this study, a highly conductive and ultra-thin titanium nitride (TiN) film was prepared using reactive magnetron sputtering for tunnel oxide passivated contact (TOPCon) solar cells. The TiN film demonstrated a high conductivity of 5000 S/cm and a relatively low work function of 4.26 eV, optimizing electron transport. The application of this film in TOPCon solar cells achieved an impressive efficiency of 24.6% (Voc = 707.1 mV, Jsc = 41.62 mA/cm2, FF = 83.7%) and provided vital insights for electron contact optimization in silicon or perovskite solar cells.

Summary: In this study, non-toxic composite nanofibers were fabricated by incorporating controlled amounts of boron nitride (BN) nanosheets (5 %), titanium oxide (TiO2) nanofibers, and halloysite nanotubes (HNT). The aim was to obtain an efficient catalyst for acetaminophen (ACT) degradation. The results showed that the BN/TiO2/HNT nanocomposite degraded over 98% of acetaminophen after 3 hours of visible light irradiation. The composite also maintained its degradation rate after five cycles and OH center dot-, O2 center dot-, and h+ were found to play major roles in the degradation process.

Summary: Metal oxides, such as titanium dioxide (TiO2) and zinc oxide (ZnO), can enhance the properties and performance of biodegradable plastic food packaging. The addition of TiO2 and ZnO nanoparticles in nanocomposite films affects their infrared absorption, thermal stability, and migration behavior in different environments. The aggregation of ZnO particles is higher than that of TiO2 particles, and ZnO shows a stronger interaction with thermoplastic starch (TPS) phase. The interaction between ZnO and polymers also modifies the degradation temperature (Td) of the films. The migration levels of titanium and zinc metals differ depending on the simulant types, with ZnO showing higher migration levels due to its higher dissolution. These findings highlight the potential use of these nanocomposite films in aqueous environments for food applications.
