Summary: This multicenter retrospective study aimed to report the clinical and radiologic features of 92 glandular odontogenic cysts (GOCs) diagnosed over a 20-year period. The study found a wide spectrum of features in GOCs, ranging from typical cysts to more aggressive lesions. Significant differences in lesions were observed between the two countries in terms of sex predilection, clinical signs and symptoms, and lesion locations.

Summary: Intraosseous mucoepidermoid carcinoma (IMEC) and Glandular odontogenic cyst (GOC) are two pathological entities that are difficult to distinguish. The diagnostic reliability of CRTC1/3::MAML2 gene fusion for distinguishing between IMEC and GOC was established. The presence of positive gene fusion transcript of CRTC1/3::MAML2 was specific for IMEC and significantly differentiated it from GOC, while cases of IMEC with negative gene fusion transcript posed diagnostic difficulty in differentiation from CRTC1/3::MAML2-negative GOC.

Summary: The glandular odontogenic cyst (GOC) is a rare jawbone cyst that poses diagnostic challenges due to overlaps with other conditions. Fewer than 200 cases have been reported in the literature, and the lack of case series hinders a comprehensive understanding of the lesion. This study presents three well-documented cases of GOC and discusses key points for diagnosis and treatment.

Summary: This collaborative cross-sectional study examined the clinical, demographic, microscopic, and immunohistochemical characteristics of glandular odontogenic cysts (GOCs). The study found that GOCs primarily occurred in men over 40 years of age, mainly in the posterior mandible and anterior maxilla. Immunohistochemistry revealed overexpression of proteins related to invasiveness in GOCs, suggesting that invadopodia activity may be involved in promoting local invasion in GOCs.

Summary: The case presented shows a rare occurrence where central MEC may have originated directly from a pre-existing GOC in the mandible. The study suggests that central MEC and GOC may be related diseases caused by the rearrangement of the MAML-2 gene, but they can still be considered as separate tumors based on the different expression profile of cytokeratin 13.

Summary: Glandular odontogenic cyst (GOC) is a rare jaw cyst that can overlap with low grade intraosseous mucoepidermoid carcinoma (MEC), but differentiation is crucial. Close follow-up is recommended for patients with this rare finding to monitor any potential changes.

Summary: This case report presents a rare case of clear-cell variant mucoepidermoid carcinoma (MEC) in a 10-year-old boy. The tumor cells showed predominant clear cells with scattered mucous cells and had increased mitotic activity. The diagnosis was supported by positive staining for various markers and presence of rearrangement of the MAML2 gene. Treatment involved a right infrastructure maxillectomy, and the patient had a successful recovery with no recurrence or metastasis at the 6-month follow-up.

Summary: This study compared the molecular abnormalities of metachronous mucoepidermoid carcinomas (MMEC) in patients with acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) with primary mucoepidermoid carcinomas (MECs) in pediatric cases and young adults. It found that KMT2A rearrangements were detected in pediatric MMECs and were associated with histomorphological changes and worse prognosis. No KMT2A rearrangements were found in primary MECs.
