Summary: A composite additive roasting and acid leaching process was applied to reduce the vanadium content in vanadium extraction tailings from vanadium-bearing converter slag. The effect of additive with different MgO/(CaO + MgO) ratios on the roasting and leaching behaviors of vanadium slag was investigated, and the optimal process conditions were determined. The results showed that the addition of MgO could transform the vanadate species in the slag, but excessive MgO substitution for CaO reduced the leaching efficiency of vanadium.

Summary: In pursuit of carbon neutrality, there is a growing demand for metals required for clean energy technologies. Metallurgical waste, particularly slag, offers a promising secondary source for these metals. This study developed an environmentally friendly hydrometallurgical process to recover Cu, Ni, and Co from discarded copper/nickel slag. The process involved high-pressure acid leaching (HPAL) to selectively leach the metals, solvent extraction (SX) to extract and enrich copper, and the use of PAX solution to recover nickel and cobalt. A comprehensive process flowsheet was presented along with a preliminary economic evaluation to assess its viability.

Summary: In this study, the non-salt roasting method was used to investigate the mechanisms driving the utilization of V-Cr slag. It was found that at a roasting temperature of 700°C, spinel (Fe,Mn)(V,Cr)2O4 could be converted to acid-soluble and acid-insoluble products. At roasting temperatures >850°C, MnO2 was converted into half Mn2V2O7 and half (Fe,Cr,Mn)2O3. Selective leaching was performed to separate vanadium from other elements, achieving a leaching efficiency of 94.55% for V.

Summary: This review focuses on the potential applications of barium sulphate nanoparticles in various fields, as well as the methods for their production. The top-down approach of milling is less popular due to difficulties in controlling particle size and shape, while the bottom-up approach of liquid-phase reactions shows more promise. Techniques such as microemulsions, microreactors membrane dispersion, and spinning disc reactors overcome the limitations of direct precipitation and allow control of particle size and shape.
