Summary: The Controlling Nutritional Status (CONUT) score is a simple screening tool that can detect nutritional status and predict adverse clinical outcomes in specific populations. This study aimed to investigate the predictive role of the CONUT score on mortality and length of stay (LOS) in frail patients admitted to an Internal Medicine Department. The results showed that high CONUT scores were associated with longer LOS, but did not significantly predict mortality.

Summary: The study investigated the prognostic value of pre-treatment Controlling Nutritional Status (CONUT) score in laryngeal cancer patients. The CONUT score was found to be associated with clinicopathological factors and survival, and it was shown to be useful in predicting survival in these patients.

Summary: The preoperative CONUT score is a reliable predictor of short-term outcomes in gastric cancer patients undergoing laparoscopic gastrectomy. Patients with high CONUT scores had a significantly higher incidence of overall complications, and the CONUT score was identified as an independent risk predictor of postoperative complications after multivariate analysis.

Summary: The study aimed to investigate the role of the CONUT score in predicting frequent exacerbations in older patients with COPD. The results showed that a CONUT score >= 5 was the best independent predictor of >= 2 exacerbations (or 1 hospitalization) during the previous year.

Summary: This meta-analysis evaluated the prognostic value of PNI and CONUT scores in patients with glioblastoma. The results showed that a high PNI score was associated with longer overall survival and progression-free survival, while a low CONUT score was associated with longer overall survival. Multivariate analyses confirmed that high PNI score and low CONUT score were independently associated with longer overall survival. Therefore, PNI and CONUT scores have prognostic value in patients with glioblastoma, but further large-scale studies are needed to confirm these findings.

Summary: The CONUT score, which represents poor nutritional status, has been shown to be an indicator of adverse outcomes. This retrospective study analyzed data from 369 patients, divided into four groups based on the CONUT score. In-hospital all-cause mortality, length of hospital stay, and the prevalence of sepsis increased with higher CONUT scores. The increased risk associated with a high CONUT score remained significant even after adjusting for confounders. These findings highlight the importance of CONUT scores in predicting short-term in-hospital outcomes and complications.

Summary: Our meta-analysis found that a high CONUT score is significantly associated with poor overall survival in patients with pancreatic cancer. However, it is not significantly associated with recurrence-free survival. There is also a significant association between a high CONUT score and male patients. However, there is no significant association between the CONUT score and clinical stage, lymph node metastasis, lymphatic vessel invasion, invasion of the portal vein system, and nerve plexus invasion in patients with pancreatic cancer.

Summary: In this study, the mutual relationship between the controlling nutritional status (CONUT) score and sarcopenia as prognostic factors in patients with advanced urothelial carcinoma (aUC) was comprehensively examined. The study found that the CONUT score and sarcopenia were significant and independent prognostic biomarkers and incorporating them into established prognostic models increased their predictive accuracy. These objective indices of a patient's general condition may assist in treatment decision-making for patients with aUC.

Summary: This study aimed to investigate the association and predictive value of the Controlling Nutritional Status (CONUT) score for overt hepatic encephalopathy (OHE) in cirrhotic patients following transjugular intrahepatic portosystemic shunt (TIPS). The results showed that the CONUT score was directly correlated with OHE risk and could serve as a reliable prognostic marker for OHE risk in cirrhotic patients following TIPS, which could be beneficial in the evaluation and management of OHE.

Summary: In patients with systolic heart failure, the CONUT score at admission can independently predict poor prognosis during the vulnerable phase of the disease. It can be combined with conventional risk factors to improve the predictive efficacy for all-cause death and rehospitalization.
