Summary: Eliminating disparities and ensuring equity starts with understanding child disparities and addressing the who, what, when/where, and why/how of disparities. It is important to delve deeper to understand the manifestations, mechanisms, and processes underlying disparities in partnership with communities. Descriptive statistics and studies are important, but systematically addressing the who, what, when, where, how, and why of disparities is crucial for rapid and targeted action. Explicit language, commitment to dissemination and implementation of best practices, and rooting out unfair policies are urgently needed for health equity.
