Summary: The study found that inserting epidemiological information into lumbar spine imaging reports did not have a significant impact on subsequent nonsurgical and surgical procedure utilization involving the thoracolumbosacral spine and sacroiliac joints.

Summary: Cooled-radiofrequency ablation (CRFA) is effective and safe for chronic lumbar facet joint-related pain. Significant pain relief was achieved at 1st (4-8 weeks) and 2nd (>2-6 months) follow-ups, with comparable duration of pain relief to traditional radiofrequency ablation.

Summary: The present systematic review and meta-analysis provide evidence that intraarticular injections in the sacroiliac joint are a fair therapeutic option for managing low back pain of sacroiliac joint origin. However, further studies are needed to confirm these findings and address the limitations identified.

Summary: This study evaluated the efficacy and feasibility of radiofrequency ablation (RFA) using V-shaped active tip needles for chronic lumbar zygapophyseal joint dysfunction. The results showed significant improvements in NRS, DN4, EQ-index, and EQ-5D-VAS at different time points. Therefore, RFA may be a feasible and effective treatment for chronic lumbar zygapophyseal joint pain.

Summary: Intraoperative nerve monitoring (IONM) is a tool used during thyroid surgery to identify the recurrent laryngeal nerve (RLN). While multiple IONM systems for thyroidectomy require intubation, a cutaneous surface electrode system has been developed for thermal ablation procedures like radiofrequency ablation, although it is not widely available in the United States.

Summary: In conducting research for cervical pain guidelines, the American Society of Regional Anesthesia and Pain Medicine and the American Academy of Pain Medicine charged the Cervical Joint Working Group in 2020, ultimately integrating 20 questions with high consensus among the committee. Participating organizations expressed overall support for the guidelines, with 14 questions receiving unanimous approval without any dissensions or abstentions.

Summary: Image-guided minimally invasive radiofrequency ablation (RFA) is a treatment option for pain and swelling associated with joint and spine degeneration. RFA of sensory nerves offers faster recovery time and minimal risks. Further research is needed to compare RFA with other conservative treatments and understand its role in different clinical settings.

Summary: This study aimed to investigate the ability of the Patient-Reported Outcomes Measurement Information System (PROMIS) to capture the therapeutic effect of first-time medial branch radiofrequency ablation (RFA). The study found that RFA for lumbar facet syndrome resulted in statistically significant improvements in PROMIS domains of Physical Function and Pain Interference, but no significant change in Depression.

Summary: According to a systematic review of 9 studies, radiofrequency ablation (RFA) was found to be more effective than intra-articular injections in relieving pain and improving joint function, despite a higher incidence of non-serious adverse events.

Summary: This retrospective comparative study evaluated the efficacy of cervical facet joint (FJ) steroid injection versus cervical transforaminal epidural (TFE) steroid injection for treating cervical radicular pain. The results suggest that the efficacy of FJ steroid injection may be as good as TFE steroid injection, making it a viable treatment option for patients with cervical radicular pain.

Summary: This study analyzed the cost-effectiveness of radiofrequency denervation (RFD) for patients with zygapophyseal joint pain (ZJP) and found that RFD significantly improved patients' health-related quality of life index, decreased medication and specialized healthcare consumption, and showed stable results in sensitivity analysis across different scenarios.

Summary: This study evaluated the effectiveness and procedural characteristics of a novel ultrasound/fluoroscopically guided technique (longitudinal axis sacroiliac joint radiofrequency ablation) for sacroiliac joint denervation. The results demonstrated improvements in pain, disability, and quality of life with the longitudinal axis sacroiliac joint radiofrequency ablation technique. Compared to the palisade technique, the longitudinal axis sacroiliac joint radiofrequency ablation required longer procedure time but shorter fluoroscopy time.

Summary: The management of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) involves the collaboration of multiple disciplines, including hepatologists, surgeons, radiologists, oncologists, and radiotherapists. By properly staging patients and selecting suitable treatments, the prognosis for HCC is improving. Surgical options, such as liver resection and orthotopic liver transplantation (OLT), provide curative-intent treatment but have limitations. Non-surgical ablative techniques, especially for small HCCs, have been shown to have comparable overall and disease-free survival to surgical resection. The use of ablative techniques is globally recommended and there are promising results with recent technical advancements and the use of robotic assistance.

Summary: This study retrospectively evaluated the efficacy and safety of RFA and MWA in treating unresectable lung malignancies. The results showed that both RFA and MWA were appropriate treatment options, with high rates of technical success and efficacy, and low rates of side effects and complications.

Summary: This study surveyed common practices for genicular nerve radiofrequency ablation (RFA) and found a lack of standardized protocol for genicular nerve block and ablation. Proceduralists have debates regarding the need for a second diagnostic nerve block and the type of steroid used for diagnostic nerve blocks.
