Summary: A novel electric motor with an integrated magnetic spring (EMMS) is proposed for cyclic loads, such as weaving looms, to reduce power consumption. The EMMS utilizes a passive magnetic spring to provide oscillating load torque. The design and analysis of the EMMS for a weaving loom application are investigated, and the effectiveness of the EMMS is validated through measurements. The torque delivered by the magnetic spring depends on the design choice, with higher torque leading to lower power consumption but increased manufacturing cost.

Summary: The paper investigates the magnetic properties and design of an energy harvester system. The magnetic flux density in the magnetic spring was measured using Hall-Effect magnetic sensors. The amplitude of the magnetic flux density depends on the frequency of vibrations generated by the vibration generator. The simulation results and laboratory measurements confirm the effectiveness of the magnetic spring prototype.

Summary: To tackle climate change and its negative consequences, a bio-mimetic system for polarized wind energy harvesting was developed to exploit the wind flow generated by traffic and natural wind flow. The system, called Smart Leaf, consists of four Leaves connected in parallel to form a Four-Leaf Smart Bush. Experimental tests were conducted to assess its performance, and a technology demonstrator was assembled to monitor air pollution.

Summary: A general theoretical analysis of a 3D generic TENG structure is presented in this paper. It is found that the optimal TENG geometry is independent of the frequency of the moving dielectric, but the external ohmic impedance for maximum power output is inversely proportional to the frequency. The energy of the TENG is proportional to the cube of its size, the square of the triboelectric charge density, and the angular frequency of the moving dielectric.

Summary: Reclaiming kinetic energy from vibrating machines holds great promise for sustainable energy harvesting technologies. This research develops a conductive hydrogel with an electro-responsive polymeric network, which can be used for lightweight, miniaturized, and integrated high-frequency electrochemical devices. The hydrogel can quickly form a localized electrolyte layer under the influence of an applied voltage, allowing for rapid charge transport with an exceedingly high local charge density. The micro-capacitor based on this gel exhibits a record-high capacitance when the frequency of energy input reaches up to 104 Hz. Additionally, a prototype battery charger that harvests energy from a running car engine is demonstrated in this study. This research presents a feasible strategy for waste energy recycling using integrated electrochemical devices, opening a new avenue for ambient energy management.
