Summary: Mobile Integrated Health Community Paramedicine (MIH-CP) programs aim to increase access to care and reduce emergency department and emergency medical services usage. Previous systematic reviews on MIH-CP reported diverse interventions, effect sizes, and a high prevalence of biased methods. This study performed a meta-analysis to evaluate the effect of MIH-CP on emergency department visits and assessed the influence of study designs on reported effect sizes. The results showed a reduced risk of emergency department visits associated with MIH-CP programs.

Summary: This study examines the implementation of a community paramedicine program to help complex patients transition from hospital to home and avoid readmission. It identifies the social determinants of health (SDoH) needs of patients and measures their association with hospital utilization. The study finds that certain domains of SDoH needs, such as coordination of healthcare, durable medical equipment, and utilities, are associated with higher predicted readmission rates, while identification documentation and social services needs are associated with actual readmission.

Summary: In 2015, the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation introduced the Culture of Health (CoH) action model to guide its grantmaking decisions. Although the model has achieved considerable success, progress has been slower in transforming healthcare systems. In comparison, the Quadruple Aim (QA) framework has successfully been translated into primary healthcare practice. Both models share similar principles and the QA has the potential to accelerate the culture of health in the United States.

Summary: This study aimed to identify decision aids (DAs) developed for home and community care, assess their adherence to international criteria, and explore the involvement of interprofessional teams in their development and use. The findings showed that DAs addressed various decision points, particularly those related to older adults, but there was limited evidence of interprofessional team involvement in the development and use of DAs in home and community care settings.

Summary: This article provides the first systematic review of the effectiveness of community-based palliative care (CBPC) programs. The review suggests that CBPC programs can improve end-of-life quality, reduce healthcare costs, and decrease hospitalizations and emergency department visits for seriously ill patients. However, further research is needed to understand the characteristics of successful programs and their impact on low-income and lower-middle-income countries as well as vulnerable and key populations.

Summary: This study aims to identify the inherent security issues for PHS deployment in P2P networks and how they can be overcome. The findings consolidate into 8 key security issues associated with PHS implementation and deployment on P2P networks and 7 factors promoting them. Additionally, a suitable architecture for P2P PHSs and guidelines for the provision of PHSs while maintaining information security are proposed.

Summary: This study explores the impact of various characteristics on the delay of emergency medical services (EMS) response for crash-based, heart-based, and stroke-based emergencies. The findings indicate that the correlations between characteristics and delays vary at different stages of EMS response. For example, work-related illness or injury is positively correlated with delay for crash- and heart-based EMS responses at stage 1, but negatively correlated with delay for stroke-based EMS responses.

Summary: One in five children under the age of five has experienced caries, which is the most prevalent chronic disease in childhood. Failure to address a child's dental health can lead to complications in both the short and long-term. Therefore, primary care pediatric providers play a crucial role in preventing caries by addressing dental health during routine visits.
