Summary: Intuitive eating is inversely associated with various indices of eating pathology, body image disturbances, and psychopathology, while being positively associated with positive psychological constructs like positive body image, self-esteem, and wellbeing. Men reported higher levels of intuitive eating than women, with the largest differences in Caucasian samples. Meta-analytic path analyses strongly supported the hypothesized pathways specified in the Acceptance Model of Intuitive Eating.

Summary: This study tracks the well-being of individuals across five European countries during the COVID-19 pandemic and finds that working from home lowers workers' well-being, while those who are not working have the lowest well-being. The panel results show a slight decrease in anxiety when switching to working from home. Higher policy stringency is negatively correlated with well-being. Working from home has a larger negative impact on older individuals, those with higher education, those with young children, and those living in crowded housing.

Summary: Real-time EEG-based neurofeedback can effectively regulate brain activity and modify cognitive performance and behavior. However, individual variations in neurofeedback learning rates limit its overall efficacy. This study investigated the effects of learning rate and control over training on cognitive performance and electrocortical activity. The results showed that participants receiving individual upper alpha (IUA) neurofeedback improved their IUA activity more than those receiving sham neurofeedback. Learning rate predicted enhancements in resting-state activity and mental rotation ability, with a positive effect for IUA neurofeedback and a negative effect for sham neurofeedback. Finally, self-paced training was found to increase higher-level cognitive skills more than externally paced training.

Summary: This study aims to investigate the changes in the severity of cyberchondria during the COVID-19 pandemic and identify the predictors of cyberchondria at this time. The results showed that the COVID-19 pandemic affected various facets of cyberchondria, with cyberchondria-related distress and compulsion increasing and the reassurance facet of cyberchondria decreasing. COVID-19-related fears and health anxiety emerged as the strongest predictors of cyberchondria-related distress and interference with functioning during the pandemic.

Summary: Brain imaging studies have found that stimulation of the left dorsolateral prefrontal cortex (dlPFC) can modulate brain reactivity to reward-related cues. However, the impact of contextual factors on this modulation effect remains unclear. In this study, researchers tested the effects of high-frequency repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation (HF-rTMS) on brain reactivity to cues signaling reward availability or unavailability. The results showed that HF-rTMS modulated brain activity in response to game cues, with increases in posterior insula and caudate nucleus activation and a decrease in occipital pole activation. HF-rTMS also increased ventral striatal activity for cues available for betting but had no effect on cues unavailable for betting.

Summary: While playing video games is a healthy leisure activity for most people, there is a minority of vulnerable users who exhibit excessive use and experience negative consequences. This study aims to identify psychological factors that differentiate highly involved but healthy gamers from problematic gamers. Through cluster analysis, three distinct groups of gamers were identified based on their passion profiles. Furthermore, supervised machine learning revealed that specific gaming disorder symptoms were associated with either harmonious or obsessive passion for gaming. These findings highlight the importance of person-centered approaches in treating problematic gaming.

Summary: Overeating associated with neurogenic obesity after spinal cord injury (SCI) may be related to how persons with SCI experience satiation, their eating frequency, and the context in which they eat their meals. Those with SCI rely less on physiological satiation cues for meal termination and instead rely more on hedonic cues. There are differences in meal contexts and eating frequency between SCI individuals and controls, with SCI individuals consuming fewer meals but having a higher overall eating frequency due to increased snacking. These factors likely contribute to overeating associated with neurogenic obesity after SCI.

The study found that higher impulsivity and reward-seeking behaviors were related to greater fat and sugar intake in males, while higher negative urgency and BMI were related to greater intake in both sexes. These findings suggest that individuals with certain traits may be more at risk for weight gain due to overconsumption of unhealthy foods.

A study conducted in Australia examined the self-reported changes in food habits and behaviors of adults during the COVID-19 restrictions in 2020. The majority of respondents reported developing positive food habits, such as trying new recipes, cooking from scratch, and reducing take-away meals. The study also found that family involvement in food preparation and eating together increased during the restrictions. However, there were negative experiences, including difficulties in purchasing certain foods and limited access to food outlets.

Summary: This study aimed to investigate the association between sensory reactivity and feeding problems in young children. The results showed that taste/smell sensitivity was significantly associated with difficulties in texture transition/introduction, limited variety of foods, and both feeding problems. Additionally, children with total sensory reactivity or auditory filtering sensory reactivity had a higher prevalence of consuming a limited variety of foods. These findings highlight the importance of considering sensory reactivity as a potential predictor of feeding problems.
