Summary: An analytical method based on pyrohydrolysis separation and ion chromatography quantification was proposed for simultaneous trace level determination of B, Cl, F, and Mo in U3Si2. The optimal pyrohydrolysis conditions were identified, and a two-step isocratic ion chromatography procedure was developed for sensitive determination. The method was validated by comparing with spectrophotometry and ICP-AES, and an in-house working standard of UO2 was used. The method limit of detection was 0.5-0.6 μg g(-1) for B, F, and Cl, and 2.5 μg g(-1) for Mo.

Summary: Ionic fluoride added to milk is widely used to prevent dental caries in children, but the quantitative relationships of different forms of fluoride in milk are poorly understood. Researchers have developed a comprehensive protocol consisting of six potentiometric methods to quantify the major fractions of fluoride in milk. The findings reveal that 9% of fluoride in milk is in ionic form, while 66.3% is bound to proteins and lipids, making it unavailable for human absorption.

Summary: A new all-solid-state PVC membrane nitrate electrode was developed and used for potentiometric analysis of nitrate ions. The electrode utilized silver (I) bisdiethyldithiocarbamate ((C2H5)2NCS2)2Ag+) (Ag(dtc)2) compound as the electroactive positive charged carrier (ionophore) in a plasticized PVC membrane structure. The nitrate-ISE exhibited linear potentiometric behavior in the concentration range of nitrate ions with a detection limit of 6.71 x 10-6 mol L-1. It was successfully applied for the determination of nitrate ions in different water samples and fruit juices, although its pH working range is limited to 4 - 9.

Summary: In this study, high purity graphite was effectively digested using a single method, allowing for the determination of halogens using multiple techniques. The microwave-induced self-ignition (MISI) system combined with pressurized oxygen enabled rapid digestion of carbon-based materials and accurate determination of halogens. This method eliminates the need for additional ignition aids and utilizes a diluted absorbing solution with low blank values.

Summary: This work describes the development of a phosphate-selective electrode with a plasticized membrane containing bis(2-ethylhexyl)tin (IV) dichloride as an ionophore. The membrane showed a linear potential response to HPO42- ions in the concentration range from 4×10-5 to 3×10-2 mol/L with a Nernst slope of 29±2 mV decade-1 activity. Using cyclic voltammetry, the ionophore-facilitated transfer of mono- and dihydro phosphate ions was characterized at the water/PVC-2-nitrophenyl octyl ether phase interface. Alternating current voltammetry was used for quantifying phosphate ions in aqueous solutions.

With this method, Cd can be efficiently extracted from a mixture of alkali and alkaline earth metals without the need for an elution step. The combination of D-mu SPE and SAGD OES significantly reduces matrix effects and improves the tolerance of Cd to alkali metals. Summary: This work proposes a rapid and sensitive spectroscopic method for detecting melamine in food products using rare-earth Terbium-doped Graphene Quantum Dots (Tb-GQDs) synthesized by microwave and simple chemical conjugation methods. The synthesized Tb-GQDs show a spherical shape with a size of approximately 6 nm and a quantum yield of 52%. The maximum detection limit for melamine concentration in milk and milk products is found to be 0.31 μM. The dual emitting Tb-GQDs provide a sensitive and effective platform for real-time detection of melamine in food samples, particularly in milk, and show promising potential in the food industry.
