Summary: The use of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) and unmanned underwater vehicles (UUVs) has significantly increased in the past decade. Their small size and high maneuverability make them popular choices for various applications. However, the detection and tracking of UAVs and UUVs are challenging due to their small size and ability to fly close to the terrain. This survey paper discusses the features, capabilities, challenges, and threats of current and future UAVs and UUVs, as well as countermeasures against these threats.

Summary: Recent advances in utilizing Lie Groups for robotic localization have significantly improved estimation accuracy and uncertainty characterization. The Invariant Extended Kalman Filter (InEKF) extends the Extended Kalman Filter by leveraging error dynamics on matrix Lie Groups, resulting in exceptional linearization, convergence, and accuracy properties. Comparisons with quaternion-based EKF showed notable enhancements in long-term localization and faster convergence with negligible computation time difference.

Summary: In this study, a facile Pt@Co/MoN sensing platform was fabricated by depositing Pt nanoparticles onto Co/MoN nanoarrays using atomic layer deposition (ALD) technology. The prepared Pt@Co/MoN exhibited excellent performance in the electrochemical detection of H2O2 due to its unique nanostructure and the strong interaction between Pt and the nitride support. This work provides an interesting strategy to fabricate low-Pt electrocatalysts on a nanoarray support for future applications in electroanalysis.

Summary: The Prokaryotic flagellum serves as a biological wheel that can convert rotating motion into continuous propulsion, serving as inspiration for the design of macroscale underwater propellers. The theoretical model accurately describes the propulsive capabilities of the propellers inspired by flagellated organisms, which are validated through experimental trials. Ultimately, an underwater robot prototype propelled by these flagellar modules is presented.

Summary: The most critical development in conventional underwater applications in recent years is the use of hydrogen energy systems, particularly Air Independent Propulsion (AIP) systems powered by Proton Exchange Membrane (PEM) fuel cells. These systems have gained worldwide interest due to their advantages in terms of longer endurance time, silent operation, environmental friendliness, high efficiency, and low thermal dissipation. However, the storage of hydrogen presents a significant challenge in terms of quality, weight, and volume. Different hydrogen storage techniques are required for unmanned underwater vehicles with varying volume and weight requirements.
