Summary: Long noncoding RNAs (lncRNAs) play important roles in multiple biological processes. In this study, we found that the lncRNA HITT can specifically localize in mitochondria and bind to MFN2, a core component of mitochondrial fusion. This interaction disturbs the formation of MFN2 complex, attenuating mitochondrial fusion and increasing cellular sensitivity to UV radiation-induced apoptosis.

Summary: This study evaluated the roles and functions of antisense lncRNAs in esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC). Differentially expressed antisense lncRNAs were identified and NNT-AS1 was found to be significantly associated with ESCC prognosis. Upregulation of NNT-AS1 facilitated ESCC progression, while downregulation inhibited ESCC cell proliferation and migration.

Summary: This study proposes a multiple-step model to identify lncRNA-lncRNA immune cooperation and constructs lncRNA immune cooperative networks. These networks may modulate tumor-immune microenvironment by regulating immune-related functions. The study also reveals important immune cooperative lncRNAs that play central roles in multiple cancers and are correlated with known anticancer drug targets.

Summary: TMPO-AS1, an important regulatory RNA, is overexpressed in esophageal cancer and correlates with shorter survival times in patients by promoting cancer cell proliferation and metastasis. This study reveals the molecular mechanisms by which TMPO-AS1 activates the gene coding for thymopoietin, a hormone associated with tumor progression.

Summary: This study reveals that EPCs derived EVs transmit TUG1 to alleviate sepsis by promoting macrophage M2 polarization. Additionally, TUG1 can competitively bind to miR-9-5p to upregulate SIRT1 expression, leading to the inhibition of miR-9-5p-mediated SIRT1 inhibition, which contributes to a more comprehensive understanding of the pathogenesis of sepsis.

Summary: Recent findings have highlighted the role of long noncoding RNAs (lncRNAs) in gene regulation, particularly in pathways associated with tumorigenesis. HOXA10-AS, a tumor-biased expressed lncRNA, plays a critical role in oral cancer growth and metastasis and is also associated with drug sensitivity.

Summary: Chinese researchers have discovered that a long non-coding RNA called Mir122hg plays a protective role in promoting the growth of new healthy cells after liver injury. By activating signaling pathways and promoting gene transcription, Mir122hg encourages hepatocyte proliferation, suggesting its potential use in new therapies.

Summary: Heterotopic ossification is the formation of bone in non-osseous tissues, and it can be caused by genetic or non-genetic factors. TGF beta 1, BMPs, activin A, and other factors are known to induce HO. Dysregulation of noncoding RNAs may also play a role in the development of HO.

Summary: Wnt signaling induces a splicing switch of lncRNA-DGCR5, leading to the generation of a short variant (DGCR5-S) that is associated with poor prognosis in esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC). DGCR5-S inhibits TTP's anti-inflammatory activity by protecting it from PP2A-mediated dephosphorylation, thereby promoting tumor-promoting inflammation. Synthetic splice-switching oligonucleotides (SSOs) disrupt the splicing switch of DGCR5 and effectively suppress ESCC tumor growth.

Summary: The long non-coding RNA EPR regulates various biological activities in mouse mammary gland cells and is highly expressed in the intestine. The specific deletion of EPR in the colon of mice results in hyperproliferation of epithelial cells, impaired mucus production and secretion, inflammatory infiltration, and increased vulnerability to colitis and tumor formation. EPR interacts with genes involved in mucus metabolism and its deletion causes changes in chromatin organization.

Summary: Emerging evidence suggests that the long non-coding RNA THOR plays a critical role in the development of breast cancer. THOR interacts with hnRNPD to regulate downstream signaling pathways, promoting cell proliferation and metastasis in breast cancer. The THOR-hnRNPD-PDK1-MAPK/PI3K-AKT axis may serve as a potential therapeutic target for breast cancer treatment.
