Summary: This study developed an efficient strategy to synthesize telluride core-shell colloidal semiconductor nanoparticles (CSNPs) with thin amorphous shells using aqueous cation exchange (ACE). The crystallinity and shell thickness of the CSNPs could be controlled by changing the synthesis temperature. The CSNPs synthesized at 60 degrees C exhibited the highest surface-enhanced Raman scattering activity.

Summary: This study investigates the potential of elongated quantum dots, known as jellybean quantum dots, as qubit-qubit couplers. Through experimental measurements and simulations, it is found that under low electron occupancies, the jellybean quantum dots form a tunable, artificial molecule composed of three coupled dots. Under high electron occupancies, they merge into one large dot with well-defined spin states, demonstrating the potential of jellybean dots as qubit couplers in future quantum computing architectures.

Summary: Epitope imprinting is a method for protein recognition using artificial receptors. In this study, open-mouthed epitope-imprinted polymer nanocapsules (OM-MIP NCs) were synthesized by controlling the polymerization on one side of Janus nanoparticles (JNPs). The NCs showed satisfactory detection performance for bovine serum albumin (BSA), with good imprinting factor and a low limit of detection.

Summary: This study elucidated the synthesis of mono-dispersed ZnS/NiO-core/shell nanostructures with controlled thermal treatments, showing enhanced H2 generation and stable photocurrent density in water splitting experiments. The optimized ZnS/NiO-core/shell exhibited 1.42 times higher H2 generation compared to pristine ZnS-core and 64.5 times higher than pristine NiO-shell. Additionally, the developed photocatalysts demonstrated excellent stability in recyclability tests.

Summary: Muco-adhesive drug delivery systems are extensively studied for controlled pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics. These systems utilize muco-adhesive polymers to prolong drug residency time at the application site and improve drug delivery. Compared to traditional drug delivery systems, muco-adhesive carriers have the potential to enhance therapeutic performance and efficacy. However, achieving successful muco-adhesion involves considering various physico-chemico-mechanical parameters.

Summary: This study aimed to evaluate the clinical conditions of young subjects with progressive facial asymmetry treated with high condylectomy. A retrospective study was conducted on nine subjects diagnosed with unilateral condylar hyperplasia (UCH) type 1B. The results showed that early high condylectomy surgery was beneficial for resolving facial asymmetry and avoiding future orthognathic surgery, but long-term follow-up until the end of facial growth is necessary.
