The aim of this research was to analyse free throw shooting in eliminatory games, considering the variables that influence their effectiveness. The sample consisted of 1576 free throws shooting (38.4 +/- 12.9), corresponding to 41 eliminatory games in ACB, Euroleague, Olympic Games and NCAA championships. A reliability analysis of the observation of free throws shooting was carried out The dependent variable was the effectiveness in free throws shooting and the independent variables were: level, player positioning, gender, period, quarter, minute of the game, effectiveness percentage, situation in the scoreboard and points of difference in the scoreboard. There was found a statistically significant relationship between the effectiveness variable with level, gentler and player positioning. In the sample analysed, the players in the NCAA, women and guards have a higher success. Also, it has been detected relationships among independent variables.
