Summary: Hirsutism is a common manifestation of hyperandrogenism in women, especially those with polycystic ovary syndrome, and is assessed using the mFG scoring system. Poor correlation exists between androgen levels and the severity of hirsutism, with some women showing biochemical hyperandrogenism without obvious physical signs.

Summary: This study aimed to investigate the metabolic characteristics of overweight women with PCOS and analyze the possible mechanisms. The results showed that overweight PCOS patients were prone to hypertension, diabetes, low gonadal levels, and insulin resistance. Inflammatory cytokines CXCL12/SDF-1, Serpin E1/PAI-1, and MIF were predicted to play a crucial role in inducing insulin resistance in overweight PCOS through various biological functions and signal transductions.

Summary: This study investigated the prevalence of different chronotype categories in women with PCOS and their impact on hormonal and metabolic aspects. The findings showed a higher prevalence of evening chronotype in women with PCOS, which was associated with worse hormonal and metabolic profiles.

Summary: The metabolic profiles of women with PCOS in Latin America are worse than those without PCOS in the same region, with higher anthropometric and metabolic parameters. Further studies evaluating metabolic comorbidities and distinct PCOS phenotypes in different Latin American countries are needed for primary and secondary prevention of PCOS in the region.

Summary: This study aimed to determine the usefulness of new anthropometric indices and atherogenic indices in evaluating metabolic disorders, particularly glucose and insulin abnormalities, in women with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS). The results showed that most of the analyzed anthropometric measurements and atherogenic indices were significantly correlated with metabolic disorders, indicating their potential as useful tools for evaluating glucose and insulin abnormalities in PCOS women.

Summary: The meta-analysis results suggest that sitagliptin can improve insulin resistance, body mass index, total testosterone level, and high-density lipoprotein in patients with PCOS. However, larger, higher-quality studies are needed to evaluate the efficacy of sitagliptin in women with PCOS.

Summary: This study analyzed the association between leptin and polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS). The results showed that serum leptin levels were significantly higher in patients with PCOS and were associated with multiple metabolic markers. Combined detection of leptin and anti-Mullerian hormone (AMH) had high accuracy in diagnosing PCOS.

Summary: The study aimed to assess the hormonal and metabolic profile of adolescent girls with PCOS additionally diagnosed with AT, finding higher estradiol and DHEAS concentrations in the AT group. Positive correlation between AT and estradiol concentration was observed, along with a tendency towards higher glucose levels in girls with PCOS and AT, indicating a potential role of estradiol in the development of the autoimmune process. Further research is needed to confirm these findings.

Summary: This study conducted a systematic review and meta-analysis to investigate the association between polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) and metabolic syndrome (MetS) in adolescents. The results showed that adolescents with PCOS were more than three times as likely to have MetS compared to controls. Obese adolescents with PCOS also had a higher risk of MetS compared to those with obesity but without PCOS. Blood pressure and lipid metabolism were found to be affected in adolescents with PCOS, indicating that PCOS could increase the frequency of MetS by influencing these factors independent of obesity.

Summary: The systematic review and meta-analysis revealed that Black women with polycystic ovary syndrome have a greater tendency for adverse cardiometabolic risk profile compared to White women, despite lower triglyceride levels. These findings emphasize the importance of considering these disparities in diagnostic, monitoring, and management practices in Black women.

Summary: Polycystic ovary syndrome has a wide range of negative impacts on women's health and is one of the most frequent reproductive systemic endocrine disorders. It is mainly caused by increased levels of androgen (hyperandrogenemia) and insulin resistance. Understanding the effects of these two factors on the pathophysiology of symptoms related to PCOS is crucial for further research and potential treatments.

Summary: This study is the first to investigate the association of common MC4R SNPs with obesity-related parameters, revealing several SNPs that are associated with obesity indicators in Iranian adults. An interesting finding is a protective gene that helps combat obesity. Additionally, the MC4R risk score only affects BMI and waist circumference during early adulthood in the study.

Summary: This study reviewed 49 publications on the association between nutrition and gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) in Iranian women. The pooled analyses showed that GDM women had lower serum vitamin D levels and higher serum iron, ferritin, and hemoglobin levels compared to non-GDM women. Some dietary patterns were found to be associated with the odds of GDM. Vitamin D supplementation early in pregnancy may help prevent GDM, but there is insufficient evidence to recommend a specific dietary pattern for GDM prevention in Iranian women.

Summary: This study aimed to explore the upper reference limit of prolactin (PRL) in women with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS). The results showed that in PCOS women under the age of 35, the upper reference limit of serum PRL was approximately 1.5-fold higher than in controls. The elevation of PRL in PCOS might be attributed to a decline in central dopaminergic tone associated with PCOS, leading to an increase in levels of both PRL and luteinizing hormone (LH).
