Summary: This study compared the postoperative outcomes of patients who underwent THA using either the Corail collarless stem or the Hydra stem. The results showed no significant difference in clinical outcomes between the two groups at 2 years postoperatively. However, the Corail group had significantly less stem subsidence and a lower rate of 3rd degree or greater stress shielding.

Summary: The study compared the short-to mid-term outcomes of a new off-the-shelf three-dimensional printed trabecular titanium acetabular cup with a conventional titanium acetabular cup in Chinese patients undergoing revision total hip arthroplasty. The new trabecular titanium acetabular cup demonstrated encouraging clinical outcomes, effectively relieving pain, improving hip function, and providing satisfactory biological fixation. Further follow-up is needed to assess its long-term effects.

Summary: The study assessed long-term survivorship and functional and radiographic outcomes of the Zimmer Modular Revision hip (ZMR) system. Results showed high survivorship rates at 15 years for both PCM and TM cohorts. Aseptic loosening was the most common cause of revision surgery. Previous concerns regarding modular junctional weakness seem to have been addressed satisfactorily.

Summary: This article describes a dynamic scanning protocol for ultrasound assessment of the adult hip, using different maneuvers for various conditions. Real-time patient examination and ultrasound scanning videos are combined for convenience and better insight. The text focuses on common conditions around the hip where dynamic ultrasound scanning provides valuable information in addition to static imaging. The protocol is prepared by an international consensus of several experts in the field of musculoskeletal ultrasound.

Summary: The clinical and radiological outcomes of fixing the acetabular component with the IBBC technique in primary cemented THA were excellent, with significant improvement in hip scores and low rates of radiolucent lines. The Kaplan-Meier survivorship rates for radiographic loosening and revision of the acetabular component were high, demonstrating the potential of using IBBC technique for acetabular component fixation.

Summary: Hip dysplasia is common in both humans and dogs due to their shared ancestry and similar anatomy. While there are some evolutionary differences between the two species, the etiology, pathogenesis, and treatment of HD show many similarities. Integrating knowledge and experiences between dogs and humans could be beneficial for both species in the future.

Summary: This study evaluated the feasibility and outcomes of using standardized 3D-printed trabecular titanium cups and augments to reconstruct acetabular defects. The results showed encouraging results in the mid-term follow-up, indicating that this method could be widely applied for repairing acetabular defects.

Summary: This study aimed to compare the long-term outcomes of total hip arthroplasty (THA) following acetabular fracture with primary osteoarthritis (OA). The results showed that THA following acetabular fracture had acceptable implant survival rates, but had an increased risk of revision compared to primary OA.

Summary: This study found that patients who underwent reoperation within 2 years of primary ACL reconstruction had significantly inferior outcomes in terms of minimal important change (MIC), patient-acceptable symptom state (PASS) and treatment failure compared to those who did not undergo additional surgery.

Summary: The study identified increasing rates of reoperation in patients undergoing lumbar total disc replacement (TDR) at short-term, mid-term, and long-term follow-up periods. Diabetic patients were more likely to require reoperation, while patients operated on in teaching hospitals had lower reoperation rates.

Summary: The study evaluated the outcomes of total hip arthroplasty (THA) in patients with post-traumatic osteoarthritis (OA) and avascular necrosis (AVN), who had previously undergone surgical treatment for acetabular fractures. THA significantly improved the life quality and functional status of patients with post-traumatic OA and AVN.

Summary: Functional data analysis is important in medical research due to patient follow-up over time. This study introduces an estimator for mean function using partly observed data, which is model-free and fully nonparametric. Extensive simulation shows the method outperforms existing approaches, and is applied to real data on lung growth in girls in the US.

Summary: Restricted kinematic alignment (rKA) is an improved method for restoring native knee kinematics, avoiding excessive alignment issues. Compared to traditional kinematic alignment (MA), rKA shows similar or slightly better outcome scores (PROMs) without increasing the risk of implant failure. Long-term clinical studies are needed to confirm this trend.
