Summary: This study aimed to assess the quality of endoscopic videos in rhinology, finding that videos uploaded by academic institutions had higher quality metrics such as like ratio, JAMA benchmark scores, DISCERN criteria scores, and GQS values. However, overall, the quality and reliability of endoscopic videos varied, necessitating the establishment of video sharing regulations and quality standards.

Summary: The study aimed to evaluate the ergonomic positions of surgeons during endoscopic sinus surgery, showing that trainees may adopt higher risk neck postures than attending surgeons. This suggests that interventions for posture should be considered early in training.

Summary: This study aims to describe reboot surgery as a potential adjuvant strategy for EGPA patients treated with Mepolizumab. The results showed that 12 months after surgery, nasal symptoms were significantly improved, with an absence of nasal polyps on endoscopy and a reduction in eosinophils on histology. These findings support the possible adjuvant role of reboot surgery in this particular subset of patients.

Summary: This study investigates the impact of postoperative gabapentin on opioid consumption and pain control following endoscopic sinus surgery and/or septoplasty. The results show that postoperative gabapentin effectively reduces opioid use during the first postoperative week without compromising pain control.

Summary: This study aims to investigate the impact of demographics and sinonasal comorbidities on the revision rate of functional endoscopic sinus surgery for chronic rhinosinusitis. The results showed that White patients had a significantly lower revision sinus surgery rate compared to non-White patients, including Asian, Black, multiracial, or other races.

Summary: A comprehensive analysis of systematic reviews (SRs) on functional endoscopic sinus surgery (FESS) found that many SRs did not report the harms of the surgery completely, and these SRs had generally low quality. Future studies are recommended to follow guidelines such as STROCCS or the harms extension of PRISMA to improve harms reporting and evaluation.

Summary: The extended anterior inferior approach to endoscopic medial maxillectomy (EAMM) provides improved access to the inferior-posterior-medial maxillary sinus, minimizing the risk of hypoesthesia and cosmetic changes while obviating the need for division of the nasolacrimal duct. This progressive approach minimizes injury to nasal and nasolacrimal structures without compromising tumor outcomes.

Summary: This study assessed the correlation of anterior ethmoidal artery (AEA) descent and found that AEA descent is more pronounced on the left side. These findings have important implications for preoperative imaging evaluation and sinus surgery.

Summary: This study found that routine endonasal debridement at post-operative week 2 following endoscopic dacryocystorhinostomy (endoDCR) improves the success rate of the surgery. Clearing the nasal cavity enhances tear outflow and reduces cicatricial healing, leading to improved surgical outcomes.

Summary: This study examined the effects of endoscopic sinus surgery (ESS) timing on pulmonary health in lung transplant patients with cystic fibrosis (CF). The results showed that early ESS interventions following lung transplantation can improve pulmonary function, attenuate pulmonary exacerbations, and reduce the need for antibiotic use.

Summary: This study provides an age-stratified analysis of associations with patient sex in pediatric inpatients with acute rhinosinusitis (ARS). The findings show that male patients have increased odds for developing orbital and intracranial sequelae, undergo more procedures, but have similar charges and length of stay compared to female patients. The study highlights age-stratified differences in ARS across patient sex.

Summary: Rhinology plays a crucial role in cosmetic rhinoplasty, with a deeper understanding being beneficial for surgeons without formal training in otolaryngology. It is important to address nasal function issues either preemptively during surgery or through revision procedures as cosmetic rhinoplasties may sometimes have negative impacts. Many rhinoplasty patients today are looking for comprehensive care that can manage both aesthetic and functional concerns in a single operation.

Summary: A new wireless high-definition endoscopic system (WHES) was developed, which provides similar image resolution as a Storz laparoscopic system with acceptable colour resolution, at a lower cost. Expert evaluation showed no significant difference in resolution, brightness, and colour for cystoscopy between WHES and Storz system, but WHES scored higher in ergonomics. The overall cost of WHES was much lower compared to Storz system, and there was 100% general satisfaction in the survey.
