Summary: In patients with cardiogenic shock related to myocardial infarction, complete revascularization is achieved only in one-fourth of patients treated with a multivessel PCI strategy. The residual SYNTAX score is independently associated with early and late mortality.

Summary: This study evaluated the prognostic role of high Killip class in MINOCA patients and compared the results with MIOCA patients. The results showed that high Killip class was associated with higher in-hospital mortality, long-term mortality, and risk of heart failure hospitalization. In MINOCA patients, high Killip class was identified as a strong independent predictor of MACE occurrence.

Summary: This study investigated the association between type D personality and adverse cardiac events in Chinese patients with acute myocardial infarction (AMI). The results showed that patients with type D personality had higher rates of anxiety and depression, as well as higher incidence of in-hospital and post-discharge cardiac events. Age, type D personality, and killip classification were identified as independent predictors of in-hospital major adverse cardiac events.

Summary: We evaluated the validity of diabetes definitions using disease codes and antidiabetic drug prescriptions in the Japanese DPC data via medical chart review. The results showed that DPC data can accurately identify diabetes among inpatients using either diabetes codes alone or diabetes codes and/or prescriptions.

Summary: This study found that blood urea nitrogen to albumin ratio (BAR) is associated with long-term mortality in patients with acute myocardial infarction (AMI). Patients with higher BAR tended to have longer intensive care unit (ICU) stay and a higher rate of four-year mortality.

Summary: The study found that under hyperglycemic conditions, the infarct size reducing effects of Levosimendan-induced postconditioning are blocked, but can be restored by combining with the mitochondrial permeability transition pore (mPTP) blocker cyclosporine A (CsA).

Summary: A nomogram was developed and validated to predict the risk of depression in patients with myocardial infarction (MI). The nomogram included variables such as age, BMI, smoking, drinking, diabetes, exercise, insomnia, and PIR, and showed good stability and predictive accuracy. It can be used as a complement to existing depression screening scales to help physicians make better treatment decisions.

Summary: The study found that cardiovascular magnetic resonance can be used as a predictive parameter for left ventricular remodeling in patients with acute anterior myocardial infarction undergoing primary percutaneous coronary intervention. Left ventricular ejection fraction, global longitudinal strain, peak circumferential strain in infarcted segments, and infarct size were identified as significant indicators for predicting left ventricular remodeling. The regional parameters in the infarct zone were superior in predicting left ventricular remodeling.

Summary: This study compared the prognostic and predictive ability of different cardiac troponin (cTn) assays in patients with acute coronary syndrome. The results showed that Siemens Vista cTnI was the strongest predictor of myocardial infarction, while high sensitivity cTnT was the strongest predictor of mortality. An inverted U-shape relationship was observed between cTn concentration and non-cardiovascular mortality.

Summary: This study evaluated the predictive value of stress hyperglycemia ratio (SHR) in patients with acute ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) and found that SHR is independently associated with major cardiovascular adverse events (MACEs) and mortality risk. Furthermore, adding SHR to the Thrombolysis in Myocardial Infarction (TIMI) risk score significantly improved its predictive efficiency, especially in patients with diabetes mellitus (DM).

Summary: Periprocedural myocardial injury and myocardial infarction are common complications of percutaneous coronary intervention, associated with increased short- and long-term mortality. Inflammation levels before, during, and after the procedure are linked to higher rates of myonecrosis and future cardiovascular events. In addition to inflammation from underlying coronary disease, PCI itself triggers an acute inflammatory response.

Summary: This study aimed to examine the positive predictive value (PPV) of pediatric stroke diagnoses in the Danish National Registry of Patients (DNRP) and the impact of different stroke definitions on the PPV. The overall PPV was 0.39, varying across different stroke subtypes. Non-validated administrative data should be used with caution in pediatric stroke research, and pediatric stroke incidence rates may vary depending on the stroke definition used.

Summary: Based on a retrospective cohort study using records of community pharmacies in Japan, the study found no new safety concerns related to elobixibat and lubiprostone use for treating chronic constipation, although the hazard ratio of different events varied. Further larger-scale study is needed for more stable estimates.

Summary: This study compared the effectiveness and safety of reduced or standard daily doses of direct oral anticoagulants (DOACs) with warfarin in Japanese patients with nonvalvular atrial fibrillation (NVAF). The results showed that the patients receiving reduced or standard doses of DOACs had equal to or lower risk of stroke or systemic embolism compared to those taking warfarin. In specific patient groups, such as those with a history of cerebral infarction and CHA(2)DS(2) -VASc score >= 3, the risk was lower for reduced doses of DOACs.

Summary: This study investigates the association between detected events and the use of pemafibrate using pharmacy records maintained by community pharmacists. The results show that events related to pemafibrate use mainly include increased blood pressure and lipid-lowering effects, while events related to fenofibrate use include nasopharyngitis, pruritus, dizziness, and lipid-lowering effects. Additionally, pemafibrate users are more likely to use an add-on anti-hypertensive drug compared to fenofibrate users.
