Summary: The study found that the GUCY1A2 gene is highly expressed in gastric cancer tissues and may serve as a potential prognostic marker. Logistic regression analysis showed that high expression of GUCY1A2 was significantly associated with histological grade and T stage. Kaplan-Meier curves indicated that gastric cancer patients with high expression of GUCY1A2 had a poorer prognosis. GSEA results demonstrated that the high GUCY1A2 phenotype is significantly enriched for tumor-related signaling pathways.

Summary: The study found that SMARCC1 is frequently upregulated in gastric cancer and is significantly associated with clinical pathological factors such as tumor size, differentiation, depth of invasion, lymph node involvement, and TNM stage. Furthermore, high expression of SMARCC1 predicts poor prognosis in gastric cancer patients and may serve as a prognostic biomarker and therapeutic target in gastric cancer.

Summary: PROX1 is a transcription factor that promotes malignant transformation and stemness in colorectal cancer (CRC). It has been found that PROX1 is associated with cell glucose metabolism and regulates cell proliferation and glucose metabolism through interaction with SIRT3. High PROX1 expression combined with low SIRT3 expression predicts poor prognosis in CRC patients.

Summary: In gastric cancer, Galectin-1 (Gal1) and non-SMC condensin I complex, subunit G (NCAPG) expressions are significantly up-regulated and positively correlated. High expression of Gal1 or NCAPG is associated with poor prognosis in gastric cancer, and the combination of Gal1 and NCAPG has a synergistic effect on the prediction of gastric cancer prognosis. Gal1 promotes gastric cancer invasion through increased NCAPG expression.

Summary: This study investigated the link between postoperative loss of skeletal muscle mass and survival following gastric cancer surgery, finding that patients with postoperative skeletal muscle index loss >= 5% had poorer overall survival and disease-free survival. Further research is needed to determine whether stabilizing or enhancing skeletal muscle mass after surgery improves survival outcomes.

Summary: The study found that CDK5RAP3 and UFM1 expression were synchronously downregulated, and there was an interaction between the two proteins, with their expression inversely associated to AKT pathway activation. Patients with low CDK5RAP3 and UFM1 had poorer prognosis, while those with high CDK5RAP3 and/or UFM1 had better prognosis. Coexpression of CDK5RAP3 and UFM1 could improve the accuracy of prognosis prediction for patients.

Summary: TNFAIP6 plays an important role in the prognosis of gastric cancer patients, with higher expression levels associated with tumor invasion depth, lymph node metastasis, TNM stage, and poorer overall survival. Knockdown of TNFAIP6 inhibited proliferation, invasion, and metastasis of gastric cancer cells in vitro.

Summary: Punctate palmoplantar keratoderma type 1 (PPPK1) is a rare autosomal dominant disorder characterized by hyperkeratotic papules on the palms and soles. A specific novel heterozygous AAGAB mutation was identified in four Japanese patients with PPPK1, all of whom exhibited mild phenotypes limited to the soles. The mutation may have a genotype-phenotype correlation, highlighting the importance of genetic analysis in diagnosing and understanding this disorder.
