Summary: This study identified novel loci and HLA alleles associated with palindromic rheumatism (PR) through whole-exome sequencing and demonstrated distinct genetic backgrounds between ACPA- and ACPA+ PR patients. The study also provided evidence that PR and rheumatoid arthritis (RA) are genetically different.

Summary: This study aimed to characterize the bleeding phenotype in patients with Noonan syndrome (NS), evaluate the utility of following national guidelines in detecting this phenotype, assess thromboelastography (TEG) as a diagnostic tool, and determine genotype-phenotype correlations. Results showed that 5 out of 20 participants had a bleeding phenotype, with 4 of them having platelet aggregation defects and at least one additional coagulation defect. Based on available data, incorporating TEG into clinical practice for NS patients is not recommended. A new algorithm is proposed.

Summary: This study reports the first use of iguratimod, a novel small-molecule compound with anti-inflammatory effects, in the treatment of refractory palindromic rheumatism (PR). The use of iguratimod significantly improved pain symptoms and reduced flare frequency, although there were some adverse effects observed after treatment discontinuation. Iguratimod provides a new treatment option for patients with refractory PR.

Summary: Resistance to downy mildew and powdery mildew reduces the need for fungicide applications and contributes to sustainable vineyard management. Different grapevine varieties have varying resistance levels to these diseases, which should be considered when deciding on fungicide use. This study evaluated the resistance patterns of 16 grapevine varieties to multiple diseases over a four-year period. The results showed that leaf assessments can predict the resistance of bunches to some diseases for susceptible varieties. These findings can aid in making strategic and tactical decisions for the sustainable management of grapevine diseases.

Summary: Emerging evidence suggests that axial spondyloarthritis (axSpA) occurs with roughly equal frequency in women and men, but they experience the disease differently. Female patients often face longer diagnostic delays and greater limitations in physical function, leading to lower treatment adherence.

Summary: Pain is the main symptom in entheseal diseases. Eicosanoids, cytokines, and neuropeptides released during inflammation and mechanical challenge stimulate nerves and blood vessels to invade the enthesis. Nociceptive pseudounipolar neurons support this process by releasing neurotransmitters that induce neovascularization and sensitization, which may explain the dissociation between pain and imaging findings.
