Summary: The pediatric-adapted ASA-PS classification showed moderate interrater reliability among pediatric anesthesiologists. However, lower reliability in scoring for ASA-PS II and III cases suggests the need for further refinement in defining ASA-PS for pediatric populations.

Summary: This study assessed the concordance of ASA classification between surgeons and anesthesiologists, and investigated the factors and impact of discordant classification on patient outcomes. The study found moderate concordance between the two groups and significant associations between discordant classification and patient comorbidities, age, and race. Patients with discordant classification had higher risks of mortality and Intensive Care Unit admission.

Summary: Maternal-fetal surgery is a rapidly evolving specialty, with various interventions being performed worldwide. The American Society of Anesthesiologists has recognized the important role of anesthesiologists in these interventions and formed a collaborative workgroup. The consensus statement provides comprehensive guidelines for preoperative evaluation, intraoperative management, and postoperative care for different types of maternal-fetal interventions.

Summary: These practice guidelines provide evidence-based recommendations on managing neuromuscular monitoring and antagonizing neuromuscular blocking agents during and after general anesthesia. The focus is on monitoring type and site, as well as the process of antagonizing neuromuscular blockade to minimize residual neuromuscular blockade.

Summary: The aim of this study was to establish a population pharmacokinetics (PopPK) model of nalbuphine and evaluate the suitability of bodyweight or fixed dosage regimen. The pharmacokinetics of nalbuphine was adequately described by a two-compartment model, with the hourly net fluid volume infused (HNF) identified as a significant covariate. However, the effect of HNF on dosage adjustment was limited. The fixed dosage regimen showed lower PK variability compared to the body weight dosage regimen.

Summary: This study aimed to develop an automated system for reproducible scoring of anesthetic patients. A machine learning model was trained and compared with manual scoring by anesthesiologists. The results showed a certain level of consistency between the machine learning model's scoring and the anesthesiologists' scoring.

Summary: The ASA-PS grade, which is only reported for patients scheduled for surgery, provides a better risk assessment for geriatric trauma patients. However, the CCI is available for all patients. This study establishes a correlation between the CCI and ASA-PS to predict the ASA-PS grade for geriatric trauma patients, providing a more predictive trauma model.

Summary: The study aimed to assess whether high-risk ASA-Physical Status was an independent risk factor for surgical site infection after infra-inguinal lower extremity bypass. The results showed that ASA-Physical Status ≥3, emergency surgery, general anesthesia, and procedure performed by a junior surgeon were independently associated with surgical site infection. Surgical site infection was significantly associated with major limb events, length of hospital stay, and all-cause mortality.

Summary: This study aimed to establish consensus for ASA classification in a women's hospital and develop a rule-based algorithm for automated ASA classification. Participants rated their agreement on ASA scores using the Delphi technique. The results showed that consensus was reached for 37 items, facilitating their incorporation into a rule-based clinical support system for automated prediction of ASA classification.
