Summary: This study aimed to compare the metabolic differences between women with preeclampsia and healthy pregnant women. The results showed that in early pregnancy, the metabolic differences were mainly influenced by body mass index (BMI), while in late pregnancy, specific metabolic changes related to preeclampsia were observed.

Summary: The publication of the Chronic Hypertension and Pregnancy (CHAP) trial has already changed the way mild chronic hypertension in pregnant people is managed. However, it has also led to confusion regarding the implementation and management of the trial findings. This article addresses aspects of implementation and discusses clinical questions that may impact the management of patients with chronic hypertension following the trial.

Summary: In pregnancy, higher blood pressure levels and visit-to-visit variability are associated with adverse pregnancy outcomes, with each 5 mm Hg increase in blood pressure levels leading to increased odds of the composite outcome. Increased blood pressure visit-to-visit variability is also associated with increased odds of hypertension and adverse pregnancy outcomes.

Summary: Preeclampsia is a disease that has wide-ranging effects on the body's organ systems, with consequences lasting beyond the immediate postpartum period. Current research aims to understand the pathophysiology of preeclampsia for accurate screening and treatment. Preeclampsia impacts maternal morbidity and mortality in the cardiovascular system and other organs, with effects persisting after pregnancy. This review discusses the current understanding of preeclampsia's pathophysiology and ways to improve overall outcomes.

Summary: In uncomplicated pregnancies, maternal-fetal HLA matching was not different than expected by chance, while in preeclamptic pregnancies, there was a higher degree of HLA-C matching than expected by chance. Preeclamptic pregnancies showed an overall tendency towards higher maternal-fetal HLA compatibility, suggesting a potential role of HLA mismatches in immune regulation leading to preeclampsia.

Summary: This study aimed to establish reference ranges for maternal cardiac output, systemic vascular resistance, and stroke volume in the third trimester of pregnancy using the Ultrasound Cardiac Output Monitor 1A. The results showed that maximum cardiac output and stroke volume were measured in gestational weeks 30-32 and decreased over the third trimester, while systemic vascular resistance increased during the same period. The study not only provides reference ranges for clinicians to assess cardiac function during pregnancy, but also created a simple calculator for clinical practice.
