Summary: This study investigated the overall and disease-specific risk of death in patients with non-muscle invasive bladder cancer (NMIBC). The results showed a slightly increased risk of death from non-bladder cancer causes in NMIBC patients, which may be explained by confounding factors. Repeated transurethral procedures during follow-up did not increase the risk of death from non-bladder cancer causes.

Summary: Considering the importance of non-Saccharomyces wine yeasts in mixed fermentations with S. cerevisiae, this study investigates their nutritional behaviors and vitamin consumption profiles, revealing different consumption patterns and species-dependent preferences. It highlights the essential character of vitamin B1 for these yeasts and suggests the existence of synthesis pathways for certain vitamers. This research provides insights into the requirements of these yeasts and offers a tool for managing vitamin resources in mixed fermentations.

Summary: Primary central nervous system lymphoma (PCNSL) is a rare and highly aggressive form of non-Hodgkin lymphoma that requires a high level of suspicion for diagnosis due to its variable clinical presentation. While stereotactic brain biopsy remains the gold standard for diagnosis, potential procedural risks and delays in treatment initiation need to be considered. Novel diagnostic approaches, such as mutation analyses in circulating tumor DNA and determination of microRNAs and cytokine levels in body fluids, are being investigated to improve PCNSL diagnosis.

Summary: Sociocultural theory (SCT) is an important theory for explaining children's cognitive development, but its application to course design and delivery in higher education has received little attention. This study used a food science-related broadening course in a Chinese university as a case study, applying the concepts of SCT to guide its design and delivery. Interviews with students at the end of the course revealed that SCT had the potential to enhance teaching and learning experiences in higher education. Further studies are needed to explore the use of SCT as a framework for course development in higher education.

Summary: This article introduces a novel PPG acquisition platform that can simultaneously acquire multi-wavelength signals from two measurement locations, with up to 4 independent wavelengths from each in parallel. The platform is configurable, operates at 1ksps, and can be used for both research and clinical purposes. The sensing probes presented in this work acquire 4 PPG channels from the wrist and 4 PPG channels from the fingertip, allowing for the extraction of surrogates for pulse wave velocity and haematocrit.

Summary: This article provides a systematic review and thematic synthesis of interventions to increase retention of early career nurses during the pre-registration period. The results suggest that some interventions may lead to increased retention, but the conclusions are limited by the quality of reporting and scarcity of data. It is recommended to consider maximizing students' exposure to clinical practice and the potential benefits of interventions with alternative approaches such as psychological wellbeing programs.
