Summary: This study investigates the toxicity of PFOA to the genes related to thyroid hormone synthesis and their regulatory network using FRTL-5 rat thyroid follicular cells as a model. The results suggest that PFOA disrupts the TSH-activated cAMP signaling pathway, leading to a decrease in thyroid hormone levels, and increases endoplasmic reticulum stress.

Summary: Duchenne muscular dystrophy (DMD) is characterized by impaired muscle function, and this study found that compromised repair capacity and premature senescence of muscle stem cells contribute to the progression of the disease. However, extraocular muscles (EOMs) contain muscle stem cells with long-lasting regenerative potential. Through further analysis, the study identified the involvement of thyroid-stimulating hormone receptor (TSHR) in preventing senescence and promoting muscle repair. Activation of adenylyl cyclase can reduce senescence, increase regenerative potential, and improve muscle function in DMD.

Summary: High SLC34A2 and low SLC4A4 protein expression are associated with capsular invasion and extra-thyroid metastasis in PTC patients. High SLC34A2 expression is identified as an independent risk factor for capsular invasion and extra-thyroid metastasis, while low SLC4A4 expression is only identified as an independent risk factor for extra-thyroid metastasis.

Summary: In a mouse model study, it was found that papillary thyroid cancer (PTC) developed more frequently and displayed more aggressive pathological features when occurring concurrently with Hashimoto's thyroiditis. Mice with pre-existing thyroiditis had longer survival time, lower incidence of PTC, and more prominent intratumoral mononuclear cell infiltration. These findings highlight the contribution of intratumoral T and B lymphocytes to the evolution of PTC.

Summary: Signaling pathways play critical roles in executing and controlling important biological processes within cells. Dysregulation of signaling pathways can modulate chromatin modifications, thereby contributing to tumorigenesis and metastasis. Understanding the role of these pathways in disease pathogenesis is crucial for developing targeted therapies.

Summary: Resistance to thyroid hormone beta (RTHb) is a rare hereditary disorder that is difficult to diagnose. Recent studies have suggested a connection between THRB mutations and human cancers. This study reports two cases of RTHb coexisting with papillary thyroid carcinoma (PTC), and follow-up results show no recurrence of cancer.

Summary: In Arabidopsis, the regulatory gene CONSTANS (CO) controls photoperiodic flowering, while floral organ senescence is regulated by jasmonates (JAs). This study shows that CO protein accumulates in Arabidopsis flowers and displays a diurnal pattern in floral organs. Altering CO expression affects flower senescence and abscission by interfering with JA response. CO interacts with JAZ3 and inhibits its repression activity, leading to activation of transcription factors involved in promoting flower senescence. In addition, CO, JAZ3, and COI1 form a protein complex that promotes degradation of CO and JAZ3 in the presence of JAs.

Summary: This study investigates the role of Plastin-3 (PLS3) in the progression of papillary thyroid cancer and its underlying molecular mechanisms. The expression of PLS3 was significantly upregulated in tumor tissues compared to adjacent normal tissues in clinical samples of papillary thyroid cancer patients. High PLS3 expression was associated with advanced tumor stage and poor prognosis. In vitro and in vivo experiments showed that PLS3 promoted the proliferation, migration, and invasive behavior of papillary thyroid cancer cells through the activation of the Notch signaling pathway. The findings suggest that PLS3 could be a potential therapeutic target for the treatment of papillary thyroid cancer.
