Summary: Twitter has played a crucial role in the Black Lives Matter (BLM) movement, both in spreading information and organizing protests. However, it has also been used by right-wing accounts to counter the movement. The study analyzes millions of tweets over 2 years to understand the dynamics of attention and rhetoric surrounding BLM.

Summary: The study investigates the velocity and impact pressure distribution of particles in aerosol deposition coating using the impact-pressure method. It is found that particles from the center and near the edge of the nozzle have similar impact velocities. A correction factor is determined based on the Knudsen number and the measured impact pressure.

Summary: This study compared the resolving powers of different 16S rRNA hypervariable regions in microbiome analysis of sputum samples, and found that the V1-V2 region had the highest accuracy in classifying respiratory bacteria in sputum. Therefore, the V1-V2 hypervariable regions can be used for taxonomic identification in sputum before the availability of third generation full-length 16S rRNA sequencing platforms.

Summary: This study investigated the interference of NaCl, CaCl2, MgCl2, and SrCl2 salt concentrations on the determination of TAN in crude oil using the ASTM D664 method. The experiments demonstrated the significant interference of these salts and identified the composition of the precipitates formed during the titration.

Summary: A Zero Length Column (ZLC) method was developed to calculate reactant counter-diffusion coefficients in porous catalytic pellets and gate-opening support materials using a liquid chromatographic system. The study revealed differences in reactant diffusion behavior among different materials and validated the reliability of ZLC diffusion measurements for solvent swollen reaction systems.

Summary: This study reports torque measurements for the Taylor-Couette flow of a neutrally buoyant non-colloidal suspension in the counter-rotation regime up to a particle volume fraction of =0.2. A unified scaling relation for the dimensionless torque is shown to hold over a range of Taylor numbers Tac1 <= Ta <= 106 that covers primary, secondary, and tertiary bifurcating states. The effects of flow transitions and inhomogeneous particle distribution on torque scaling are discussed.

Summary: This paper investigates a new curved design of a counter flow double-pass solar air heater with arched baffles placed in the second duct. The introduction of arched baffles accelerates the flow near the absorber and facilitates the formation of large secondary vortices, resulting in enhanced thermal and hydraulic performance. The study also develops two regression correlations for predicting the thermo-hydraulic performance based on geometric and flow parameters.

Summary: Stringent containment and closure policies during COVID-19 have significant impacts on people's emotions and mental well-being. A study in Singapore found that the lockdown led to a slight increase in public sentiment, which further increased with the partial lifting of restrictions, but decreased after further easing of measures. Travel restrictions were associated with a decrease in sentiment, while introducing a facial covering policy at the start of the pandemic led to an increase in sentiment. The posts highlighted concerns about virus infection, wearing masks, salary, and jobs.

Summary: Cell culture media design is a significant challenge for the commercialization of cultivated meat. Different cell types have different nutrient utilization patterns, and many components of conventional media are not depleted by the cells. This highlights the need for novel methods to optimize media for culturing multiple cell types.

Summary: This article introduces a protocol that combines microfluidic cell sorting with the CEPT small-molecule cocktail to achieve high-throughput single-cell cloning of human pluripotent stem cells with minimized cellular stress. The use of microfluidic cell sorting and the CEPT cocktail promotes the viability and cell fitness of self-renewing stem cells, while also facilitating clone picking and producing genetically stable clonal cell lines. This workflow is relatively easy, scalable, and robust, making it valuable for gene editing and various applications in regenerative medicine.

Summary: This paper investigates the extension of a systematic methodology to determine the degree of saturation critical value (DOSCR) for mortar samples. The influence of drying temperature and FT cycle characteristics on the FT performance of mortar samples were studied. The results confirm the correlation between air void quality and FT performance of mortar samples, presenting an alternative method for determining DOSCR.

Summary: T cell recognition of tumors is crucial for antitumor immunity. In this study, single-cell RNA and T cell receptor sequencing were used to analyze bone marrow T cells in patients with multiple myeloma. The findings suggest that large T cell clones in multiple myeloma patients exhibit dysfunctional phenotypes and express multiple immune checkpoints. Dual targeting of specific immune checkpoints partially restored the function of these T cells.

Summary: This study found that a hyaluronan (HA) matrix is present in the niche surrounding limbal epithelial stem cells (LESCs) during ex vivo expansion. The presence of both endogenous and exogenous HA was shown to help maintain the LESC phenotype and enhance proliferation, colony formation, and expression of stem cell markers. These findings suggest that HA could be a cost-effective substrate or supplement for culturing LESCs in clinical settings.
