Summary: Gal-3 levels are higher in obese individuals and have a certain relationship with insulin resistance and inflammatory markers. After obesity surgery, leptin and hsCRP levels decreased significantly, but the decrease in Gal-3 levels was not significant. Postoperative adiponectin and IL-10 levels increased significantly.

Summary: The study found that circulating galectin-3 levels may be associated with GDM, potentially mediated through increased insulin resistance. Additionally, there is an association between galectin-3 and progesterone, highlighting a potential role of progesterone in its interaction with galectin-3.

Summary: Galectin-3, a member of the galectin family, plays a crucial role in inflammation, autoimmunity, apoptosis, and chemotaxis, and is widely expressed in immune cells. Clinical research has shown that Galectin-3 levels are closely associated with diabetes and its complications, suggesting its potential use as a predictor and biomarker. Furthermore, Galectin-3 represents a promising therapeutic target for the prevention and treatment of diabetes and its complications, particularly macrovascular and microvascular complications.

Summary: The association between type 2 diabetes and cardiovascular complications is complex, primarily due to the oxidative stress and inflammation caused by hyperglycemia. Understanding the pathogenesis of type 2 diabetes and associated cardiovascular diseases can aid in the development of new diagnostic and therapeutic approaches.

Summary: The ongoing obesity epidemic in children and adolescents has led to a rise in prediabetes prevalence, highlighting the importance of intervention to reduce obesity and insulin resistance. Lifestyle modifications are the primary approach, with additional interventions depending on long-term risks, ranging from metformin treatment for moderate cases to bariatric surgery for severe obesity and comorbidities.

Summary: Insulin plays a crucial role in controlling blood glucose levels and protein synthesis, but abnormal levels can lead to diseases such as diabetes and obesity. Accurate measurement of insulin levels is essential for early diagnosis and treatment. Current detection methods are time-consuming and expensive, but biosensing technologies offer potential solutions.

Summary: This review article discusses the shared pathophysiological connections between Alzheimer's disease (AD) and type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM), emphasizing the role of insulin in the brain and the mechanistic interplay between the two diseases. The findings highlight the need for routine evaluation and treatment of cognitive impairment in T2DM patients and the evaluation of insulin levels or T2DM in AD patients. The hypothesis of AD as a type 3 diabetes is strongly supported.

Summary: This study found that Galectin-3 is associated with cardiac function and mortality risk in diabetes patients, especially in those with T2DM. However, no relationship between Galectin-3 and cardiac function was found in individuals with normal glycemia, while NT-proBNP showed superior accuracy in assessing cardiac function compared to Galectin-3.

Summary: The study found that there were downregulations of proteins related to mitochondrial electron transport or respiratory chain complex assembly in skeletal muscle of patients with type 2 diabetes (T2D), as well as a similar decreasing trend in muscles of impaired fasting glucose (IFG) and impaired glucose tolerance (IGT) individuals. Additionally, phosphoproteomic analysis revealed altered phosphorylation in several signaling pathways in muscles of IFG, IGT, and T2D patients.

Summary: This study aimed to evaluate the potential benefits of vitamin D supplementation in preventing diabetes and found that it does not reduce insulin resistance or the risk of developing type 2 diabetes in prediabetes. Due to the variation in study designs and biases, clear interpretation of the results is not possible, and long-term and well-designed studies are still required.

Summary: The incidence of DLBCL is increasing in elderly patients, with poorer prognosis compared to younger patients. Factors affecting survival in elderly DLBCL patients include early relapse, failure to achieve complete remission, and high IPI score. Novel treatment modalities are needed for better outcomes in elderly DLBCL patients who have difficulty in receiving standard treatments.

Summary: The prognostic significance of blood types, ABO and Rh, on survival in DLBCL patients was investigated in this study. The results showed no significant difference in the distribution of blood groups between patients and healthy donors. Factors such as ECOG score, IPI score, Ann-Arbor stage, and LDH level were found to be significant predictors of survival.
