Summary: The present study aims to develop delay models for vehicles and pedestrians at signalized midblock crosswalks under mixed traffic conditions. By recording and simulating traffic flow characteristics, multiple linear regression technique was used to develop delay models, providing a tool for designing better pedestrian facilities.

Summary: This study analyzed the yielding behavior of three types of vehicles at crosswalks using a Machine Vision Intelligent Algorithm, proposing additional indicators for evaluating yielding behavior. The results showed that buses performed best in yielding rate, yielding delay, waiting time, yielding angle, and waiting site, while private cars performed poorly in yielding to pedestrians. The study demonstrates the potential of using artificial intelligence methods to understand road user behavior and prevent crashes.

Summary: Pedestrians account for a large proportion of injuries and fatalities in road traffic crashes in the state of Qatar, particularly in areas with uncontrolled midblock crosswalks where improving drivers' alertness and yielding behavior is crucial. Results from the driving simulator study show that LED and VMS conditions can effectively increase yielding rates, reduce vehicle-pedestrian conflicts, and motivate drivers to reduce speed in advance.

Summary: A two-tier Cooperative Agent-based Traffic Signal control (CATS) is proposed to minimize total delay for independent-learning signal-controlled junctions. It uses a link traffic model and an agent-based value function approximator to capture the essential features of signal-controlled junctions, achieving collaboration and scalability. Numerical experiments demonstrate that CATS outperforms other alternatives in a real-data vehicular network.

Summary: This paper presents an analysis and comparison of V2V channel characteristics in different scattering scenarios based on 5.9 GHz channel measurements. The research focuses on the non-stationary nature of V2V wireless communication channels and the variability of channel characteristics in different scattering environments. The results provide insights into the V2V channel and can be used for the design and optimization of vehicular communication systems in different scattering environments.

Summary: In this paper, the structure of the interrupted microchannel is improved by numerical simulation, and the two-phase characteristics of the new microchannel are quantified using gas-liquid flow ratios, relative standard deviations, and pressure drop fluctuations. The simulation results show that the widening design of the two side branches offsets the effect of inertia force and balances the flow resistance in the downstream branches. The gas flow relative standard deviation of the interrupted microchannel is significantly lower than that of the traditional microchannel at high void fraction.

Summary: The yielding transition in concentrated colloidal suspensions and emulsions lacks a universal description. A unified state diagram is now shown to underlie yielding for these materials, analogous to the van der Waals phase diagram for non-ideal gases. This study investigates yielding in three classes of repulsive soft solids and finds that yielding consists of a transition between two distinct dynamical states. A lattice model with dynamical coupling between neighboring sites is proposed to explain this, leading to a unified state diagram for yielding.

Summary: Hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) measurements were conducted on highly interrupted milling processes using a real spindle and dummy tool. Period-doubling bifurcations were observed, and the nonlinear dynamics of these bifurcations were analyzed for a discrete model of milling. The study revealed that the bifurcation was subcritical, indicating limitations of linear stability analysis.

Summary: This study investigates the extent to which crosswalk delays at signalized crosswalks reduce pedestrians' effective walking access in Seoul, Korea. The results show significant reductions in walkshed size and served users, with greater delays observed in commercial zoning areas and recent residential developments. The findings highlight the importance of further studies on the impact of zoning system and land use management on improving walking conditions.
