Summary: Incorporating features of antiferromagnet into a semiconductor core-shell nanowire opens up new possibilities in spintronics. Quantum mechanical prediction shows that Cr-doped nanowire behaves as an antiferromagnetic semiconductor with longer spin coherence length and high ON/OFF current ratio switching feature. This material presents potential for applications in spin-dependent quantum transport.

Summary: Porous SiC nanowire (SiCNW) ceramics show great potential for engineering applications. By adjusting the solid loading content and utilizing a modified carbothermal reaction, 3D SiCNW scaffolds with tunable microstructures and properties were fabricated. These scaffolds demonstrate high strength, good recoverability, low thermal conductivity, and multifunctionalities suitable for niche energy and environment applications.

Summary: This study investigated the upscaling potential of axial junction InP nanowire photovoltaic devices. Device processing was done on a full 2'' wafer, with device sizes up to 1 cm^2, which is a significant increase compared to previous mm-scale III-V nanowire photovoltaic devices. The short-circuit current density of the largest 1 cm^2 devices, with 460 million NWs contacted in parallel, is similar to smaller devices, enabling a record power generation of 6.0 mW, more than ten times higher than previous III-V nanowire photovoltaic devices. However, the fill factor of the larger devices is lower compared to smaller devices, affecting device efficiency.

Summary: A Cu/Ni co-doped Si-based anode material with a porous nanowire network structure is obtained through dealloying treatments. The porous structure allows the material to adapt to volume changes, and co-doping of Cu and Ni improves Li capture ability and electron migration rate. The material exhibits excellent electrochemical performance.

Summary: We report the design and synthesis of a Type III porous liquid (PL) containing stable 480 nm cavities. By constructing a single crystalline metal-organic framework (MOF) through chemical etching, the PL is able to reversibly host and release up to 27 wt % water and exhibit a large change in thermal conductivity when switching between dry state and wet state, making it a potential candidate for applications.

Summary: Monolayer MoS2 is expected to become a mainstream 2D semiconductor for opto-electronic sensing. However, its low quantum efficiency and weak light absorption have led to a need for effective routes to manipulate light-matter interaction. All-dielectric nanostructures, such as the integrated Si nanogrooves, offer a promising platform for enhancing photoluminescence (PL) and achieving angle-dependent polarization states, which can be applied to information encryption.

Summary: Cu@Si core-shell nanowire thin films were synthesized and investigated as anode materials for lithium ion batteries. The Cu nanowires provided a conductive network and mechanical support, the Cu3Si layer enhanced interface adhesion strength, and the void spaces between Cu@Si nanowires accommodated volume expansion and facilitated electrolyte impregnation, resulting in impressive electrochemical properties.

Summary: Hierarchical porous Co9S8 nanowire arrays grown on Ni foam with the sacrificial template of ZIF were successfully synthesized, exhibiting excellent electrochemical performance. The Co9S8/NF electrode showed good specific capacitance and retention rate, maintaining a high specific capacitance even after 5000 cycles. Additionally, an ASC assembled with Co9S8/NF as the positive electrode also achieved satisfactory results.

Summary: This study explores III-nitride nanowire anti-reflection structures for solar water splitting. Vertical InGaN nanowire arrays tilted by 73 degrees exhibit maximized photocurrent. By growing 3D InGaN nanowire arrays on inclined pyramid-textured Si, various light trapping effects lead to 500% enhancement in photocurrent compared to NWs on a planar Si substrate.

Summary: This study reports the fabrication of core-shell structured SiNW photoelectrodes loaded with non-noble metal Bi and Sn co-catalysts for CO2 reduction to formate. The results show that Bi-Sn/SiNW photocathodes exhibit higher formate yield and selectivity compared to electrodes modified with only Bi or Sn. Experimental analysis and computational results demonstrate that the reasonable band structure formed by Si and the two co-catalysts Bi and Sn improve the migration of photogenerated electrons, thus promoting the efficient and selective CO2 reduction reaction to formate. This work lays the foundation for composite photocathodes with multiple co-catalysts for synergistic catalysis, addressing the challenges related to CO2 reduction and sustainable energy development.
