Porous, amorphous tungsten trioxide (WO3) sub-micrometer rods (SMRs), fabricated by the glancing angle deposition technique, were observed to exhibit superior methylene blue (MB) adsorption capability in aqueous solution due to their large specific surface area and active surface functionality. The adsorption of MB on the surface of WO3 SMRs is well-described by Langmuir isotherm behavior.
