Dye-sensitized solar cells (DSSCs) with high efficiency and long-term stability have been achieved by the introduction of double layer gel type electrolytes, which have an additional nano-gel electrolyte layer on the long-term stable UV-cured polymer gel electrolyte. These DSSCs have shown analogous levels of light conversion efficiency and superior durability in comparison with the DSSCs that incorporate a solely high performance liquid electrolyte.
